In a couple of week I should have Transcendence 1.8 released. At that point, I'd like to dedicate a couple of weeks to work on Anacreon. I'll finish up Era 4 work (some bugfixes) and get started on Era 5.

I'll post a more detailed plan after Transcendence 1.8.

Are the game crashes caused by "miscellaneous animation" fixed in this version? I see these crashes on Ministry tagged with "next release" but not tagged with "1.8b5". Downloaded the zip, extracted, ran Trans and signed in. Only game files downloaded, no libraries. In general, I'm not sure you're taking into account that most stats have decreasing marginal utility. For instance, the 3rd and 4th unrestricted slots on a gunship are much more valuable than the 6th and 7th non-weapon slots on the EI500, though the marginal benefit of weapon slots probably decreas...

While I do like having algorithmic support for balancing ships, I think we need to resolve the disconnect between the two measures used for the mass of armor. It's two sets of very reasonable scales that don't actually match each other, and that causes some significant issues... This is a good poin...

Players generally spend a lot more time traveling and in dockscreens than fighting, so the standby power use is more important. That's much more heavily weighted towards shields' power use.
