In previous versions, damage was adjusted based on armor resistance even if armor had 0 hp. . This meant that damage to internal compartments was always adjusted for armor resistance, even though the armor was gone. I've updated the game server with a two changes:

1. I've uploaded the new Era 3 definitions that you all worked on (thank you!)
2. I've changed the prices that Mesophon offers for resources (based on the post I made).

Do you mean the price that Mesophon purchases resources for? If so, you would need to halve the price paid, not double it. Sorry, yes, you're right. I think the root cause of the problem is pricing resources based on "major" worlds instead of "abundant" worlds. If I double the price of all resources, then it will balanced for abundant worlds, which means 1 aes will cost roughly 20 work units--as intended. With that change, I think all the other ...

One solution to the armor mass issue is to have ships lose max-speed as well as maneuverability. E.g., the Sapphire might start to lose max-speed (slightly) on any armor above 3 tons. At 6 tons, its max-speed would drop by maybe 3 points (speed = 0.17c). Of course, drive upgrades would increase that...

MASS BALANCE I'm not sure if there's consensus, but I think the current balance algorithm undercounts mass. The current algorithm gives the following balance values: mass balance 1.5 25 2 15 2.5 7 3 0 3....
