Book 3 of the Chocoverse Series

This is of course way off topic but just had to share. My wife is releasing book 3 of her Chocoverse series using Indiegogo (the first two were through Angry Robot Books out of England). Book one starts with a world where aliens came and got the renewable commodities like plants and animals off of t...

Re: 1.8 Beta 2 is ready!

Well, since that is being pushed so hard to be a standard by the operating systems there are probably lots of users who just give up and never actually play the game.
I'd say this needs to be fixed.

Re: 1.8 Beta 2 is ready!

I found a computer it does work on.
The only thing I think the other systems have in common that the last one didn't is that they required a login to use them. Is that some kind of limiter to this game? Does it try to use the computer's login to also log into the game and crash if it isn't valid?

Re: 1.8 Beta 2 is ready!

Of course I'm downloading it from the link George posted in this thread.
Some are Windows 7 some Windows 10. 64bit.

Also tried running as admin.

Again the older versions work fine up to 1.04 at least. Didn't keep the newer ones. Maybe I should have.

Re: Gamer Motivation Model

It's Action with a little Achievement thrown in. I really don't think Mastery is even a point here. That's whole nother level of thought.

Re: 1.8 Beta 2 is ready!

This game has been unplayable for some time now (months). I don't know if this is being worked on or not but it either crashes or says it can't start the game. I can't even log in anymore. It used to let me log in and then crash trying to load the extensions. I have bought the extensions for this ga...

Free Chocolate (Science Fiction) (Novel)

Yeah a bit off topic, hence the category. My wife's book has become available for preorder. Imagine aliens have landed and taken samples of comodities like silkworms, coffee, and hops, but forgot chocolate. Now it's the one thing aliens want from us and are tired of paying us for it. It's a comic sp...

Re: Roguelikes you enjoy?

Back in the BBS days I liked playing Elynthia. I've looked for a hint of it's existence and so far have come up with zip (no, not a .zip). Oddly enough that's why I like the Civ series, they're all rogue like, as well as the sim series (sim ant is my fave). I wish there was a random map option for T...

Re: 2015 Annual Report

Ok, I'm so looking forward to Part II now! From the wrap up of the year post here's what I'd expect. The three ship types would probably stand mostly alone but some cross usefulness is expected with limits. For example I see a tech ship using a bio shield in a limited capacity, say 60%, just because...

Re: Old PC GAmes:Dos to windows 95

Some classics that I still play: Scorched Earth Someone made a 3d remake of that one. I ran into it as a RPM but there's probably a Debian package and versions for other OSs. There usually are. I get the impression it's a lot easier to port from Linux to Windows than the other way around. Yeah the ...
