I did a quick test of updating a mod to use api 39, and 1.8a4 rejected it like Corporate Command and VotG. Turns out that 1.8a4 does not accept api 39. I posted a ticket about this.

Quick note: Transdata could extract the files from the new tdb files, which means the tdb files were downloaded. The Transcendence executable, which reads 1.8 alpha 4 on the intro screen, simply refuses to use them except immediately after download on Multiverse.

Update: Seems alpha 4 is not operational after all. I moved the alpha 4 stuff to my offline dev computer, installed it, and it does not recognize the tdb files as alpha 4. I went back to the computer where I downloaded the alpha 4 files and ran Transcendence because it could run alpha 4 immediately ...

What might be fun is combining part 1 with part 2. Unfortunately, attempting that - or just simply porting mods that include Human Space library to part 2 - results in many Ares stations, among other late Outer Realm encounters, polluting Mourner and Exsillium systems where they do not belong.

Models used by Stars of the Pilgrim have been released. See the TransArt170.zip topic buried at Shipyards for a link. George uses TrueSpace to render the models.

I consider light Iocrym armor the best in the game for being light and having good durability, but patcher arms (and Novaya repairer) do not work on them. Patch spiders will work, though. They can farmed from Sentinels, but if you want the armor early enough, spending rin for it is not a problem.

That was why I made Playership Drones. Unfortunately, it has not been fully updated to 1.7 release, let alone 1.8 alphas. I plan to update that mod eventually, but not right now. The only Domina powers I really consider overpowered are Ingenuity and Desperate Escape, and the latter only in a game that honors permadeath. Taikon-200 is military and level 10, you cannot order it from Trading Post. (If it were possible, I might, it is the best shield in the game.) @ Norgath: Heavy Novaya is level 7, and it would show up kind of late. Shops have inventory that varies by system level. I consider tier 1 damage type sufficient drawback for Flenser and X-ray cannon. They are like crutch characters - great now, obsolete fairly quickly. @ JBW: Many of the enemies you mention have relatively poor defenses, especially Wind Slavers with level 2 armor as their sole defense.
