Re: [Concept]: Outlaw miner update

Mining laser: Change to use modern laser effect with red beam. This remains the primary weapon of the Borer (Note: The reason to move away from the ancient current effect is to put it in line with the current color-coding of laser damage) The mining beam needs to be visibly distinct from other lase...

Re: Continuous beam weapons

I like George's compromise plan. Everything I'd really like to see is there, and it appears to be very balance - conscious. (the flenser I'd actually suggest slightly slowing down since the current velocity makes it a bit OP when combined with its other traits) agree Also I literally suggest AI dodg...

Re: Changing ships at shipyards

This might also give us access to new (heavy) devices that cannot be mounted on gunships. I really like this one. Giving large, slow capital ships some manner of advantage over smaller, faster gunships, particularly at extreme range, is essential. As far as capship - based mechanics go, I'd like to...

Re: Continuous beam weapons

You're confusing the simple replacement of "beam" with "continuousBeam" and George's proposal of overhauling energy weapons. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks. I still say we ought to try out the continuousBeam modification, and see how it effects gameplay. As others have pointed out, lancer weapons pre...

Re: Continuous beam weapons

As I understand it, continuousbeam isn't any harder to dodge than a projectile - they move forwards at the same rate. It's a more interesting, prettier mechanic, so I support it, especially considering it diversifies the array of available weapons. I would say that I'd rather limit it to lancers, at...

Re: Continuous beam weapons

I support the proposed changes. Having everything be a projectile for the entirety of part I can get a bit grating. We're ignoring enough physics already that any additional handwaving would not do any harm, and lancers really do need the aesthetic and mechanical improvment.

Re: Changing ships at shipyards

I like the idea of reactor limits(or a similar mechanic) for ships. This allows for faster, more forgiving ships early on without making it trivial to outrun everything in late game, while providing a solid incentive to upgrade. Lowering the weight limit on early ships would also be an improvement, ...

Re: [Meta] why are there so many mods on the forums but not Xelerus?

Xelerus is bleeding out, and it isn't really as integrated as it once was. People who have been here since forever still use it, but new users just attach mods to their posts.

Re: Black Market, CSC Medical

Yeah, there are thresholds for donating and an item that you get at each threshold. This is a per donation thing, though, so multiple small donations will just get you a bunch of wine bottles, and donating a lot of items twice will get you two mammoth deflectors. It's not the best system, but the co...

Re: WIP Proposal: Outlaw Miner Overhaul

I do agree on endless reinforcements....but that's a separate issue. It is beyond the scope of this project. Adding it would also create more work down the line when/if changes to general respawns are handled. There's a misunderstanding there. I meant adding a script that takes note of its guards o...

Re: WIP Proposal: Outlaw Miner Overhaul

If Outlaw Miners get a revamp, it should preserve factional uniqueness and try to get rid of cheap weaknesses. Right now, they've got turrets for close range encounters - they don't need anything else that's good up close but terrible at a distance. They're also rather poor by definition(otherwise t...

Re: 1.8 Alpha 2

After downloading the upgrade, it came up with "Unable to replace existing files". In the debug.log it says: Upgrading Transcendence. Unable to rename Transcendence.tdb to Delete_Transcendence.tdb. That sounds like it might be a permissions issue. I'm not sure if those can be fixed on George's end,...

Re: Coming back to Transcendence.. a few questions!

Later in the game you can find linked-fire weapons that can fire at the same time as your main weapon. However, in addition to eating into your energy budget, they tend to be externally-mounted, which means they can easily be damaged (irreparably in most cases) by enemy weapons' fire. Note that thi...
