Re: The Transcendence Color Palette VS Other Games

I think the best improvement would be to add a bit more character to the background. It's almost always just a flat set of stars right now. Adding a few layers of stars with parallax effect, some background nebula(particularly in nebula heavy systems) and foreground effects(like the little particles...

Re: When did finishing the game kill your save? Why is that ok?

I like the 'saves' that take you to the stats screen, but there should be an option to have the game also generate a save right before you gate out of human space. I also agree that the shops should default to the 'all' tab, and that some sort of tab switching hotkeys(number keys?) should be added.

Re: corporate trading posts

Tritium injectors and a speedloader(if you can't find one) turn the Fusionfire from OP to gamebreakingly OP, so that's what I order. If I'm playing CC, I buff up a nanofac - supported and lithium - boosted omni thermo cannon instead. Note that the omni Ion blaster is a suboptimal endgame weapon. The...

Re: getting the lamplighter weapon...

oh, i see... i never understood what made the antarctica appear. In most of the game's well designed missions, enemies don't 'appear'. They're always there, and you can interact with them beforehand. The CSC Antarctica is in Dantalion, and the game will spawn it at a certain distance from the antic...

As of September 4 it still works fine.
That's pretty funny. Looks like it isn't the end of an era after all.

I'd love to know how the hell that workaround ended up working.

Re: Changing ships at shipyards

Upgradable wingmen is a bit off topic, but I personally prefer that friendlies improve themselves without needing micromanagement. Having to micromanage wingmens' equipment slows things down and makes them feel less like other individuals.

Re: [Concept]: Outlaw miner update

Reinforcements reduce the kiting problem, but yes, there's an issue there. However, that's just that George never coded a way to limit reinforcements. Either you have nothing (which has some significant issues) or you have a constant, never-ending stream (except when the game detects camping and fre...

Mining laser: Change to use modern laser effect with red beam. This remains the primary weapon of the Borer (Note: The reason to move away from the ancient current effect is to put it in line with the current color-coding of laser damage) The mining beam needs to be visibly distinct from other lase...

Re: Continuous beam weapons

I like George's compromise plan. Everything I'd really like to see is there, and it appears to be very balance - conscious. (the flenser I'd actually suggest slightly slowing down since the current velocity makes it a bit OP when combined with its other traits) agree Also I literally suggest AI dodg...

Re: Changing ships at shipyards

This might also give us access to new (heavy) devices that cannot be mounted on gunships. I really like this one. Giving large, slow capital ships some manner of advantage over smaller, faster gunships, particularly at extreme range, is essential. As far as capship - based mechanics go, I'd like to...

Re: Continuous beam weapons

You're confusing the simple replacement of "beam" with "continuousBeam" and George's proposal of overhauling energy weapons. Ah, that makes sense. Thanks. I still say we ought to try out the continuousBeam modification, and see how it effects gameplay. As others have pointed out, lancer weapons pre...

Re: Continuous beam weapons

As I understand it, continuousbeam isn't any harder to dodge than a projectile - they move forwards at the same rate. It's a more interesting, prettier mechanic, so I support it, especially considering it diversifies the array of available weapons. I would say that I'd rather limit it to lancers, at...
