I often find myself rich enough to not concern myself with the cost of ammo but that's now. Before when I was a newbie, I never got enough money to get freely spam ammo towards a Ares Shipyard and still be left enough to blow up 5 more. But yeah, that's definitely something to know for newer players...

I agree. It's convenient to have omni weapons with WMD to take care of pesky enemies or to kite. However, most of the non-omni primary weapons without WMD seem useless because shields and armor are much easier to deal with than internal hitpoints which require WMD to effectively damage. Are there are more competitive weapons that you guys have found to Ion9 near the start of the Outer Realms? From my experience, the Katana Star Cannon and the Thermo Cannons are great choices for leading into the lategame.

I think each mercenary ship upon death should drop a ROM of the target and the sender. Also, the player should be able to hire multiple mercenaries from one ROM against a single target. This would allow for mercenaries to deal with a much larger and dangerous target.

I've played a couple runs and each time I've gotten Dvalin's Ion9. However, I'm always disappointed by it even after I significantly enhance it. Eternity Port Starting Ships
I just realized this after revisiting the expansion. If the Asian Pacific Power has their own ship, then where is the Eurasian Diarchy Power Starting Ship? Based off the story and what each power provides, I think it would make sense for players to try their ship for a run.

Personally, I think all weapons needs to have WMD1. This would make early game destructible walls much more easier for newer players to deal with. I can very much imagine new players endlessly shooting at the walls and not understanding why they don't break.
