You have to both mine late game systems and farm ferians to have any chance at getting them in sufficient quantities. What equipment do you use at close range? I've tried it with an ion disruptor and a dual Fusionfire, but avoiding both the APA and the lightning turrets and having to shoot back with a level 7 fixed-angle weapon is pretty tough. Do they get absorbed and recreated at the same location if the passthrough succeeds? Then they could hit an arbitrary number of times as long as they keep passing through (approaching an average of 2 at 50%). But if they keep moving between hits, I don't see how they could score more than 2 hits on ...

I think the Phobos is fine. It's very skill-intensive to engage at close range, but not impossible with appropriate equipment. You have to dodge or shoot down the APA shots (though shooting them down may get harder in the next version) and anticipate when the turrets are about to fire so you can get...

I'd say you're dramatically undervaluing WMD, based on how it currently works. Also, the penalty for weapons with particularly low shot speeds (Moskva-11, MAGs, Iocrym Fracture cannon) is not large enough. I believe that multiple segments per location will be enough to take care of the compartments issue you mentioned. As long as it's just a last bit of HP before the ship is destroyed, rather than most of the ship's effective health, I think the current system for compartments is fine. I would, howev...
