I might regret saying this, but I'm going to say that the first open alpha will be released in June this year. I went and made some changes to the UI because it really needed some work. I thought so too - I just can't think of a good way to implement that. It would work great for a mining tutorial mission, because the player doesn't need to equip any mining gear.

I think it would also be worthwhile having a brief mining tutorial arc to show new players how to mine. This also opens up the option of creating custom ships right in the game. NAMI ships in particular can be pretty modular, and IAVs could actually be constructed out of scrap parts, but that's getting a little to ambitious for the "anytime soon" timeframe. How are you handling ship destruction? Just a big boom and removing the model from the game? Pretty much how it works now, but in melee matches it would definitely be better for them to leave a wreck - that introduces more hazards/hiding spots as the game goes on. Era 3: Unable to designate new sector capitals?

I can't seem to designate planets as sector capitals. The error I get is: "Sector capitals must be at least 250 light-years away from imperial capital." despite that they are withing 250 light years (and meet all other requirements).

Anyone else seeing this error?
