Re: [DEV] Elemental Shift

With the release of 1.8 I'm starting to close in on a stable release. Unfortunately I'm in a critical point for my studies IRL, so things may be a bit slower than I'd intended. Auton reworking is going well now that I've shelved a few things to cope with the inventory issues. I've got power-limits r...

Re: [DEV] Elemental Shift

I'm now working on a whole new round of changes to autons. Sadly I've run into some problems with the auton dealer inventories so my original plans for a wider array of low-level autons are on hold...but there's some good things all the same. Autosentinels are now level 2, and a non-defective versio...

Re: [DEV] Elemental Shift

Hephaestus reactors are an Archimedes Industrial product, and they're designed to run until the fuel runs out, at which point you send them to be refurbished. ...unfortunately there are some technical issues with how they're implemented, though AP has done an extremely good job getting things ironed...

Re: Red flash (Split from old thread)

Moderator note: I've split this off from the old thread. In future, please start a new thread rather than reviving ancient ones. The old thread referred to a specific problem with the red flash system that was resolved (to some extent) many years ago, and while I agree with calls for more options th...

Re: [DEV] Elemental Shift

Ok! With the release of 1.8 Beta 5 it's looking like everything will be ready for the initial public release. I've made a few adjustments based on George's rather limited experience testing it: -Better reactors and less power drain for starting ships (I'm still working on this) -Borer II's and the i...

Re: Fuel efficiency for starting ships

Yeah, I'm having to look into new reactors to get around the limitations of the Nova series. One thing though: The constellation should fit an omni recoilless. Not a light recoilless (also not the Moskva). Reason 1: It's a NAMI ship and the basic kinetics are also NAMI weapons Reason 2: Less power d...

Re: [DEV] Elemental Shift

Sadly I've had to postpone the public release due to a couple of engine-side problems that my code triggers. I'm hoping to reschedule the release for about the time 1.8 Stable comes out. :)

Re: [DEV] Elemental Shift

I've now shifted work over to Corporate Command assets. Elemental Shift currently requires corporate command (though I may see about options for a non-CC version) because a playership I wanted only exists in the libraries for it. As well as new versions of the Troglav, Likho and Anika (the latter tw...

Re: 2018 Annual Report

I've made the beginnings of a thread on Eridani, if folks want to discuss that side of things . Thanks for the shoutout to Elemental Shift....I'll be patching it up this week (though George, you still need to answer my question on particle-based explosion balance) and hopefully I'll be ready to do a...

So let's talk about Eridani

So as per George's end-of-year report , Eridani could do with an overhaul. It's a grand system, but it's very old and not really up to standard any more. Let's use this thread to talk about what we like and dislike about Eridani, and what might be ways to improve it. So for me, Eridani is a great sy...

Re: Are howitzers OP?

It's fair. I tend to avoid them because there are weapons that can perform better, but howitzers are generally very reliable. The way to counter them is with point defense, but that's fairly rare in the vanilla game. or thermo/blast resistance, which isn't as effective. I personally prefer rapid-fir...

Re: [DEV] Elemental Shift

I'm now in the final stages of getting things ready for the first releasable version. Unfortunately a few things haven't worked out yet (some extra encounters, a few more NPC variants of common ships, item tuning, and problems with balancing certain weapons), so it may be a more limited release than...

Re: Some late-game bugs and/or gripes (CC, 1.8b4)

It is possible to very rarely find a gem of sacrifice, which is a halo gem that can't be analysed. I've only seen it happen once though, and that was a random find in Heretic.

Re: [DEV] Elemental Shift

While I'm waiting for a reply fromGeorge to some balancing questions, I've added a few more things to the Tinker crafting lists. Specifically, some gear intended for pilots of larger vessels with lots of utility slots: -You can now craft autoturrets from point defense units. These will engage any ho...

Re: [DEV] Elemental Shift

Work continues, with this coming week largely dedicated to polish, balancing, and test runs. Here's me loading up on autons using an exploit in the core game (bulk-buying unidentified autons at a low price). AutonSwarmES.png The 2M battle auton is a civilian version of a lategame military craft. it'...
