Re: CSC America

The guards, also, are reasonable to be standard. The corporates and the CW won't have enough time to actually choose their guards. They just use standard ships, like everyone do in the present. No one bother to equip their guards with the best weapon they can find. Most building guards don't even c...

Re: CSC America

You're reading *way* too much into game mechanics. NPCs don't use custom loadouts because custom loadouts require work. George has not considered the increase in fidelity worth the trouble. And he's pretty much right. Civilian ships gate on threat so they only matter if you accidentally instagib th...

Re: Obstruction removal kit

1: This only works on OTHER ships. The playership is much harder to save this way (unless you carry autons specifically for this purpose) Ah, yes. Disable shields. Order auton to attack derelict station. Stand between station and auton. Of course, I agree there should be a more practical way of doi...

Re: CSC America

The players' ships are new. The Wolfen was clearly the newest Pacifica design before the Britannia entered the game and that is obviously a cut rate piece of shovelware. The EI500 is, by the numbers, newer than any other EI freighter except the EI1700. The EI1700 is turbolaser equipped. The Sapphir...

Re: Disarm provides instant decloak of hostiles

It seems any overlay is not cloaked with the ship. Pteravores and side-mounted weapons remain visible and reveal the cloaked ship's position. It kind of makes sense to me that large non-stealthy objects mounted or attached to the outside of a ship would negate any stealth armor underneath them. I a...

Re: [1.5] EP Bugged CSC India (Maybe others)

Are you talking about the Refuel option there or the Armoury one, as I recall the Refuel option being 0 credits on previous version once you reach an appropriate rank. At a higher rank, armor repair is also supposed to become free. In the new version, it experiences the same problem as refueling at...

Re: CSC America

In terms of equipment setup difficulties.....I don't know. Currently this isn't used much as a balancing tool (although it would be a very good one) ingame. Guess we'll have to see how things are when America actually releases. I'd certainly enjoy learning how that works as well. On that topic, the...

Re: [1.5] EP Bugged CSC India (Maybe others)

I was running the CSC missions, and buying fuel for my 500MW reactor. I then got promoted to Master Sergeant, and the Refuel option then changed to say "This station does not have fuel suitable for your ship's reactors". Nothing had changed on my ship setup, the only change was the promotion. I am ...

Re: CSC America

The escorts are more versatile, able to engage faraway threats without posing danger to the freighter itself. As of in-game mechanics, putting weapons on the freighter would be better, but if you want realism, those freighters are probably refitted to carry the most they can, while sacrificing equi...

Re: CSC America

A basic salary will not be enough to afford the same equipment found on pilgrim ships. Pilgrims can only finance their upgrades by gambling their lives on attacking and looting enemies of the Commonwealth. Most lose. I see no reason why the professional Korolov escorts would make significantly less...

Re: CSC America

I think you should be able to order ships into formation (or have a SL do it). The ships would then do their best to remain in that formation while completing their mission. Or make 'squadron' objects that you can assign ships to. Like a team with seven slots, for a seven-ships squadron. I actually...

Re: CSC America

Looks good to me. A label on each formation would also help, especially if we're able to set it ourselves. But apart from that, basically what I had in mind. How would 'formations' work in your view? In every RTS I've ever played, units have functioned individually, with unit groupings simply being...

Re: CSC America

Map mockup attached. This look about right? I'm assuming 'fog of war' or a similar mechanism will be present, and showing the ships' scanner range. Large dots are capital ships, small dots are gunships, the plus shape is a CSC. Clicking a point on the map could bring the camera to that location.

Re: CSC America

Icons work, but they would need to enable distinguishing of units effectively.......perhaps either a set of icons, labels, and/or being able to select from a set of icons when launching a wing/formation? Not sure how that would work, given how little we know about how we'll be commanding our units....

Re: CSC America

Also, you quoted me for something I didn't say. At all. TVR did. Ask them about it, not me. But we should probably get back to the subject of the actual RTS mechanics and gameplay. Ah, my bad. Organizing quote tags gets increasingly difficult as posts get longer. One thing that interests me from a ...
