Re: Black Market, CSC Medical
Destroying Black Market stations and selling the illegal consumer goods to a Victorian nightclub gets you 150% of the value of 30% of the items, for 45% of the total value. Plus, you get some of whatever other items they had. Buying them from Stations and Shipyards and selling them gets you (150 - ...

Re: Black Market, CSC Medical
I would not destroy Black Market stations unless I could not dock with them (due to hotel bust and no source of ID). The shipyards are useful for dock services, especially when installing a waste cannon or overleveled devices sooner than others. Black Markets are also a good place to sell some mili...

Re: Black Market, CSC Medical
I find the best thing to do with Black Markets is to get a smuggler's hold, then blow up every Black Market or illegal drugs (I forget the name) station you find. You get a bunch of free illegal goods to sell to the Startons. It's like getting paid to fight crime! Plus the Molotoks are pretty fun to...

Re: Coming back to Transcendence.. a few questions!
Oh I have must have been misled. I remember reading a wiki weapons guide on the transcendence wiki I think that kept hammering the point that "particle is king" early on. It's fine for the first third of the game, but past Katherine's Star it loses its shine pretty quickly. The wiki advice is proba...

Re: Coming back to Transcendence.. a few questions!
I am still using SmartCannon at the Battle Maximus system. Is that unlucky or is it hard to find an omnidirectional particle weapon? Particle weapons aren't that great, for the most part. They have great range, firing rate, and projectile speed, it's true, but they're pretty low damage, especially ...

Re: [Discussion] Point defense, missile HP and Aegis.
Actually, a PD device that deflects kinetic rounds is (in the real world) the only possibility to not let them hit you. If you put a laserbeam or other high energy beam on a piece of metal, rock or whatever heavy item that is coming at you with great speed, it will not stop that item or blow it to ...

Re: [Discussion] Point defense, missile HP and Aegis.
Regarding other PD ideas: how about a linked-fire weapon that throws out a huge weight of short-ranged fire (call it chaff) alongside the player's primary weapon? One has only to look at Shrike's LOTOR to realize how valuable just putting out a lot of projectiles is for protecting a ship from incomi...

Re: Coming back to Transcendence.. a few questions!
Titanium ore isn't worth much, but you should be able to sell it at Commonwealth stations and a few others. Different stations want different things. Inventories never restock, and the more a station has of a given good, the less it's willing to pay for more of that good, so eventually your little t...

Re: Coming back to Transcendence.. a few questions!
In a way, but not like solar panels and side-mounted weapons are. :) Autons are autonomous ships that fly around with you. Go ahead and use one next time you find one; the worst that'll happen is it turns out to be faulty and you'll have a weak ship armed with a laser shooting at you. Most autons ar...

Re: Coming back to Transcendence.. a few questions!
If the item is externally-mounted, it'll say that among the other flags on the item, where it says stuff like "WMD4", "cloud", "omnidirectional", etc. If I recall correctly, solar panels are an early example of externally-mounted items, and they're subject to the same ease of damaging that externall...

Re: Coming back to Transcendence.. a few questions!
Later in the game you can find linked-fire weapons that can fire at the same time as your main weapon. However, in addition to eating into your energy budget, they tend to be externally-mounted, which means they can easily be damaged (irreparably in most cases) by enemy weapons' fire. Otherwise, yea...

Re: Coming back to Transcendence.. a few questions!
1. What does "WMD" mean on the weapons I never seemed to remember that being a thing the last time I played this great game. The bottom line with WMD is that you need it to be able to effectively kill capital ships and stations. You can still hurt them with non-WMD (effectively WMD0) weapons, it ju...

Re: One-Week Adventure
I voted for the Anarchists, simply because in the vanilla game they are just cannon fodder. Much like the Centauri warlords. And their backstory is vague. I do find it amusing how probably the most trivial faction in this videogame apparently makes their money via software piracy. :) ROMs are the p...

Re: Destroyed Failsafe at OroMarch system but then no response
It's also possible to kite FailSafe and destroy it without triggering the hack cutscene, which then leaves you to assault the final base alone. You can kill FailSafe twice, in fact, since it shows up in an earlier system and is not too hard to destroy before it gets to a gate, if you get lucky with ...
