Has hacking been changed for RC1? Because It seems like every Sung ship I've run into has had a 95% success rate at hacking my ship, and I don't remember having that much trouble with them in earlier versions.

in case anyone doesn't know today we in IRC found out that dbgLog was fixed so that it still outputs in the event of a crash or infinite loop.

The trade in illegal goods is messed up in RC1; the maintenance levels of corporate enclaves and the nightclubs will no longer buy any illegal goods. Additionally, when I try to leave the trade screen at the nightclub it gives an error, necessitating that the game be force-quit

In a related vein, the "Done" menu option in the Battle Arena Maximus services area is broken; both it and the "Install Device" option share the same letter ("D"). The menu can only be left using the escape key.

I think that the two of those have been fixed.

It's nice to see that there's a system for firing multiple primary weapons simultaneously, but it might be good to spell it out in the F1 menu for those who aren't familiar with it (space-W to set one weapon auto-firing and select another, W-space to stop auto-fire.) (Unless this is unintentional functionality, of course). It also seems to be bugged for omni weapons, since omnis won't track when the omni weapon is auto-firing.

 Ironically, it was completely unintentional. Alpha-striking is nice and all, but this one's just a bug. Good alpha striking would allow for all/selected weapons to fire when the fire button is used (spacebar), but not continously as they currently do.

George Moromisato:

I have found several problems which I would like to report:

1.) Rigel Aurelius: I helped Kate Mortengal to destroy the Black Market, after which I went to the arena and fought the Slicer. Heading back to the arena station I was called a pirate and upon landing at a CW station, I was imprisoned for piracy.

2.) I began again at Starton Eridani and helped to destroy incomming Corsairs; I was called a pirate and was imprisioned upon docking at the CW station.

3.) I tried again, and during this time I aquired illegal goods which at Rigel Aurelius. Then I found that the Corporate Enclaves not longer but the goods from me. I can enter the Maintenance Area, and bring up the screen to display my illegal goods, but the purchase price is greyed out.

4. Corporate Enclave, Rigel Aurelius: error message about not being able to find the "main" dockscreen. I cannot exit the enclave one I have reached the screen which I mentioned in #3.

5. Heretic gate:
1. While I am out trying to complete my mission, Iocrym ships are systematically destroying the various research stations. I received no help or warning messages unless I was in the area. The Iocrym were in pairs, each striking a differnet station within about 30 seconds of each other.

2. Iocrym Archive:
A. The resistance level is too high
B. I wasted 20 minutes in working with the virus. The AI would get to about 7989 or so and would automatically repair itsaelf despite my carefully watching the indicators and being quick with the keyboard. There seems to be no way to win against the AI. This senario / mission needs to be revamped to make it winable. Also, what player is going to want to spend 20 mins - an hour battling an artificial intelligence? Boredom and frustration are not exactly what we want to encourage, is it?

Those are the problems which I have found in the RC1 version. George, what am I supposed to do about the exploration ship which was taken over by the Iocrym AI?

A lot of those have been fixed in RC2 I believe, although I think the whole Heretic scenario is still up in the air.

The archive puzzle is a little tricky, but it is winnable. It would be better if the help text reflected that the neural damage only needs to be below ten when you finish, it's perfectly all right to have it go above that before then.

Is it winnable without the heisenmachines CPU though?

Yes it is. My strategy is to rack up massive amounts of damage, over 100 to start with, and let it drop down lower as resistance falls.

Yeah, no heisenmachine required. Just increase the viral load to absurd amounts for a little bit, then drop it back down to a steady level, raising it incrementally as the archive adapts. Eventually you'll have to do some tricky fine tuning, but it's not hard once you figure it out.

No need to increase viral load crazily at the start. Just increase it to 1 and leave it there, keep neural damage at 50 and then wait until its time to bring it back down. This gives you about 500-1k free virus.
