I like the new patrols that spawn, but they are a little buggy:

Check the radar- these Centauri Raiders are friendly. I don't know the mechanics of how patrols spawn but my guess is that they might inherit the allegiance of the station that causes them to spawn or gate in. There was a Centauri-hostage commonwealth station (the ones that look like armor dealers) in this system. If my guess is correct, then it caused these raiders to spawn and they inherited its friendly allegiance.

I also like how hostile patrols will hunt down and attack non-allied, non-player ships, but if they chase their target all the way to the gate and their target successfully escapes, they sometimes start attacking the gate rather than choosing a new target.

I love the new, stronger ship variants that appear after St. Katherine's. The Mark V / Akan-equipped Manticore variant is especially cool! I am a little curious as to what kind of ship the suddenly-ubiquitous IAVs are supposed to represent- are they gunships? freighters? passenger vessels? some sort of utility craft? I've noticed that IAVs and freighters tend to snag all the good loot off wrecks and destroy them before I can get to them. This is frustrating but logical and it does discourage the accumulation of huge wreck piles.

"IAV" stands for Improvised Armored Vehicle. They are all-purpose private craft--smaller than freighters, but more versatile than straight gunships.

Thanks for describing the bug that causes friendly Centauris--your analysis is correct.

For the bug with the ships attacking the stargate: how long did the ships attack? Did they just attack a bit (and then move on)? Or did they keep attacking the stargate?

Thanks!

It's hard to tell, for a couple of reasons:

- Ships are gating in and out all the time, which makes it hard for anyone to safely linger around the gate for a long time.

- Getting close enough to the gate to see what the attackers are doing makes them attack you instead.

- The distance at which you can hear weapon fire seems to be further than the range of radar. If I idle at a distance further than radar range from a gate, I frequently hear long periods of continuous weapons fire. When I then approach the gate, I see a hostile patrol that attacks me but there are no wrecks around. My assumption is that they were firing on the gate.

How exactly are radar and sounds supposed to work in Transcendence - they give instantaneous data at greater than lightspeed! (Or is this one of the things that you're not supposed to think too hard about? :D)

its suspension of disbelief for the sake of playabiliy. whatever explanation floats your boat.

I'll offer up the (temporary) explaination for how Stephinian FTL ships navigate (because if you're moving faster than light, by the time you see whats in front of you you've allready passed through it). They use sensors that measure the quantum state of the universe around them as well as gravity and by doing that the autopilot can get a useful picture of the immediately surrounding universe.

I haven't been playing in a looong while, so I decided to start a RC3 game, and I've been very pleasantly surprised.
Wingmen stay out of line of fire, they are very responsive to nearby enemies(a single sentinel auton took out 9-10 zulus before it finally got destroyed).

Ships that loot wrecks: they are surprisingly fast, even in Eridani to steal your highly deserved loot. Not a problem for an experienced player that knows what to do, could be very frustrating to beginners.
Maybe they should be slower to come and loot a wreck in early systems.

I LOVE the new "little cute icons" of armors and shields. they now give you 2 main percentages (armor level dependent) plus all the adjustments in the itemtype itself, also they are now always in the same order.
Result: easy to read and to understand. Well done ! :D

Just a question: when exactly Arco start talking to you ?
Every time I just go to Raisu station, get the 1500 launcher, go to the coordinates (very useful the new yellow cross in the map), shoot 6-7 missiles and he goes to pieces. No messages. Am I too fast ? He was shooting to me, so I started launching missiles :P

In any case, I'm loving RC3 and I'm looking forward to RC4 (and onFire eventually ? :D :D )

was just thinking about event handlers and just want a confirmation. Can a ship event handler be put on a shot? We don't have shot tags in the xml but there are uses of event handlers on shots.
Crying is not a proper retort!

It should work if all you need to override are events.
