Great, I'll try if I can continue my savegame now without crashing the game at every stargate (as in RC4).
Btw, what's an IFC?
And is there anything like the official Transcendence Wiki, but up to date or at least remotely complete?

EDIT: screenshot

EDIT2: Psycholis: somehow I missed that... Blitz has a better one, I was dying too fast to wait for a good time.

We need all the help we can get completing it! :D
(And it doesn't help that I'm busy writing TMU and making random ships) (with completing the wiki that is)

Yeah. IM90+150% looks rather tame now, compared to IFC +150%, no?

Yes... IM90 +150% was never all that good. IM90 was really just a useful anti-swarm weapon, nothing more.
The IFC +150% is like a godmod, but actually you still have to earn it, and it's not a mod.

The IFC does have a downside. It has variable range. It does full damage out to 10.4 ls and drops off nearly linearly to 0 at a measly 25.6 ls. With range like that even 937.5 dps isn't too much for a leel 10 weapon.

The EI plasma cannon peaks at 195 dps (+fast) but has a 48 ls range, nearly 90% more than the IFC's max and 360% more than the range at which the IFC does full damage. Assuming exact linear dropoff the EI plasma cannon outperforms the IFC at all ranges from 22.4 ls to its maximum range of 48 ls when both are maximally enhanced.

In a wolfen, you can make the 10 ls not matter much... usually... That does put it out on a freighter and maybe on the saphire.

10 ls is suicide range against anything that comes in groups or explodes violently. Even 25 ls is too close.

Hmm... not really... Not if you've got a kaidun (for the latter)! :D
And the way the IFC fires is good enough to take out swarms.

IFC is best used in the wolfen though. I wouldn't use it in the freighter. At all.

I like how the IFC is such a subjective weapon... XD

Yeah. When it's good, it's REALLY good. When it's bad, it's useless....or near useless. It's GREAT at pteravores, and can be used against the iocrym at a pinch (although that means getting close enough for the Avalanche cannon to get you, so I'd rather use a positron lancer)....it is also great in dogfighting, and short range basecracking (although doing so is rather.....risky).....it's useless in a freighter, and for anything at longer (heck, even MEDIUM range), it's worthless.

And now we just have to wait for Post-heretic, when we can have Iocrym *Avalanche* Cannon+150%....maybe. While I can't calculate it as well as Atarlost....by my numbers that's a peak of ABOUT 2375 DPS. True, that's very low range....but does it need to be any better?

and you've nailed the crux of my problem. i'm permanent freighter so the IFC is inferior to the IM90 for me. 950 dps be damned.

Actually playing the freighter, I used the IM90 all the way till heretic. And once I got my first sentinel kill with the IM90, I switched to the IFC. IFC works great against sentinels. And it's the fastest way to take down the Iocrym command ship - even with the freigher. All you've got to do is fly round and round with the pternacium drive and stay out of the range of it's repellers. You also have to stay out of the way of it's avalanche cannon but that's easy considering it turns very slowly...

Damn....I just tried it, and it's only the IFC that can use Longzhus.

..So no 2375 DPS Avalanche :(
