PKodon wrote:Hmm, I don't think the new font looks as crisp and sharp as the old font did. It's larger, but thinner, which may make it more difficult to read, for some people.

Also, being taller, I wonder how many dock screens this will affect, and is this part of the reason the Northwinds Equipment mod's weapons show up in station/ship inventories with part of their description overwriting the nest item's title?
I didn't change any of the smaller fonts (just the larger ones). The only dock screen font that was changed was the large screen title.

If you are motivated, try taking a screenshot of the same screen on RC5 and compare against RC6. If you see a difference in the screen text, then that's probably a bug and I'd like to see it.

I re-uploaded the source, because I just discovered that uranium rods got a new graphic in rc5, and I totally missed that that time around... >.<
I didn't encounter any uranium rods on my RC5 playthrough O_o

Maybe we should be able to select our own font... I was rather unplesantly suprised when the font changed the first time..
[schilcote] It doesn't have to be good, it just has to not be "wow is that the only thing you could think of" bad

Atarlost wrote:Part of that may be that I'm wordy. Some of the shields have allways overflowed. Anything that reduces the amount of text I can squeeze into a given space is bad though when you're so limited and have the game engine sticking stats of indeterminate length after the description.

But I'm here about something else. George broke onFireWeapon for builtin configurations. http://wiki.neurohack.com/transcendence/trac/ticket/290
I can't repro this problem. Could you upload a mod that reproduces? Thanks!

Ah. What we have is an error reporting problem.

I had the attribute on the missile tag instead of the weapon tag.

And the game didn't report the invalid attribute as an error.

So first impressions: either the RNG hates me lately or the game is WAAAAAY harder now. I can rarely make it past the first couple rounds of the arena anymore and often end up getting killed in the first couple of systems. I also seem to be struggling to scrape up enough cash to buy fuel and much needed upgrades. Sometimes there just does not seem to be enough loot and/or missions to survive on. It didn't seem this difficult even in RC5.

Must be your bad luck, as my RC6 run with the Sapphire has been quite lucky until now (I'm at Eta Ceti). The weapon dealers right next to the arena sold an omni partisan, a dual particle beam and an omni turbolaser, together with a laser collimator and a cannon accelerator from commonwealth stations the systems before this was more than enough to pummel even the Slicer. Later on I found out that installing the ferian plasma cannon really pays off, it's a great playership weapon in it's own right.
Just a shame you still have to swap to a plasma torch for mining... for its 200 MW power use the ferian plasma cannon could have at least the same mining attribute as the torch.

mining requires a lot of time, are you really sure you want to use a 200MW weapon to mine for long times ? you reactor would be drained very quickly :D

Well if it had mining4 or higher, it could be faster to mine with the ferian plasma cannon as opposed to the torch with its fast projectile speed and long range. You could just fly through the asteroid fields and fire in all directions, usually hitting several asteroids with every shot.
Could be the mining weapon of choice for those that don't want to spend hours standing still firing 10 times at every roid... and for that the energy consumption could be fine.

I always bring solar armor and solar panels. And since the volcanic asteroids are usually close to the sun, I have no power problems whatsoever. :P

I got to chime in here and comment on Fonts. RC6 fonts look the best on my system since 0.98. Not sure what you may have done, but the rc6 dockscreens are cleaner and more pleasant on my eyes than I had seen in a while (may have missed a few version - I think rc2 was the last one I really played a bit on)

Where do we go to download the source files?

It's probably easier to just decompile them yourself with transdata.

I uploaded them here (I'm azar_wolf)

I still highly recommend using transdata; it gives you faster and far more convenient access to the image files
