Long time I didnt check these forums, but Im reading about some very interesting improvements and some minor defects/bugs:

general
  • - I got a crash while leaving the intro screen running for a while. Unfortunately no detailed ouput in Debug.log .
  • - a section in the configuration file that allows key binding is very needed for OSs that dont have xmodmap ;) - will there be also some menu/option to do this ingame?
  • - changing ships was a ever desired feature since Ive been here the first time. Great to see it gets implemented. Cant wait to see this feature in action.
  • - Im wondering: I missed a few version from 0.99c till now, but hasnt there been a discussion to build a version that has executables for Windows and Linux?
  • - still having some trouble with extensions: If I continue a game and have added other extensions which were not present when I started that game, I will need those additional extension from that point on too (the player ships "Wyvera" or the "Agauptera yacht" for example). Im missing a feature that will allow Transcendence to ignore extensions that were not present when a new game was started and to choose what extensions to use. (for bug hunting it would also be quite handy if extensions could be removed from a game...)
  • - the defective auton is counted as friendly ship in the high score, although its marked "red" in game.
  • - bringing rescued slaves to a Sisters of Domina station doesnt count towards "slaves rescued" in the high score.
gameplay
  • - ingame "garbage collection" feels a bit aggressive: Once there is a wreckage floating around its looted and destroyed by a Wolfen class ship. I think the player has very little time for looting.
  • - sometimes there is no mining base in Eridiani. I think this can make it somewhat difficult to get some extra cash before moving on.
(if the player wants to mine...)
  • - this already happened to me two times now: If there is a Korolov station in the second/third system and no other friendly station, the only mission I get is "destroy Charon pirates fortress".
Maybe there should at least be some "escort to/from gate" missions...
  • - this could have happened by chance: When I defended an agricultural station from Charon pirates, a Charon frigate approached and destroyed the station and my ship right after the third wave of attackers.
  • - random encounters seem to have increased in frequency and strength:
I think I killed my 5th heavy raider in Eridiani. Is there any connection between what ship the player flies and (if/which) mods are used?
  • - did a few Korolov missions and found a Korolov station that got totally jammed because no ship would undock. Theres also a smugglers convoy circling the station waiting to land. Ill keep the savegame in case its needed.
  • - the "avenge Korolov" mission in the Charon system does not seem to be completable. I destroyed every Charon pirates station in that system, also in St. Katharines, but the Korolov station in Charon is not rebuild
  • - accidently sold a "Commonwealth Medal of Distinction" to a station (Commonwealth colony), but couldnt buy it back because the station didnt offer it.

The wreck scuttling only occurs near trade-routes and stations (think of it as removing navigational hazards; for the player, it's really just a mechanic to prevent wrecks from accumulating near stations and making docking difficult or impossible without a targeting rom.

I've been playing 1.02 now for a bit and I've noticed a couple of things. I noticed the crash in the intro screen as mentioned above. I also noticed that when I was doing missions for the Karolov stations I'd see groups of enemies (usually a frigate I think, the charon pirate ship that looks like a pipe, the same graphic as the kronosaurus(?)) just sitting there. I'd complete the mission and then they would come at me. I think this is rather strange. Seemed to happen several times.

I also ran into a crash while doing a mission to destroy a convoy for a commonwealth fortress. I have emailed the save game and the debug.log to the address mentioned in the debug.log.

I've also experienced parked Charon frigates. It seems that when you get a high-profile Korolov mission the Charon gets spawned with its escorts and if you don't attack the frigate it doesn't come after you. It neither moves to intercept the mission freighter. It also gets reinforcements if you destroy the initial escorts.

I've had a game with 4 parked Charons and a lot of civilian wreckage so I could get the Master status (and reward) before triggering Kronosaurus.

Afterwards, some of the Charons started a wide orbit patrol route so I've encountered one upon returning to said system (yes, I backtrack).
