Thanks for the hint Wolfy. So theres no way to not display images when uploading them directly to this forum. Ok.

It may be just random that I get systems with none to few friendly stations but a tempus lap. Here is another example from the same game img.

Im also encountering more Heliotropes than in several past games together. However it seems quiet hard to get solar armor from heliotrope destroyers which I also find tougher than I remember. Killed 8 of them but did only loot one damaged segment of solar armor till now. If I get more systems like that I might need it.

Capital ships are harder because they got internal damage now. Phobos Dreadnoughts are almost impossible without exceptional weapons now, and other big ships are much harder (The Ranx Dreadnought upgraded from loot piñata to a real opponent now)

Also, there has been many cases where the damage gauge is not accurate. When targeting a ship and firing at it, sometimes the ship explode when it's just about 85% damaged. Only happens with capital ships so far, so I guess it might have something to do with internal damages.

That explains a lot. I noticed too that bigger ships - not only what I would call a capital ship like the ranx dreadnought or the phobos - tend to explode before they got 100% damage.

When I destroyed that last heliotrope outpost in the picture above a huge swarm of at least 4 destroyers and several gunships were after me. Almost ended that game.

Good I got a warning before encountering Ranx dreadnoughts and phobos. Lets see how hard earth slavers are ;)

EDIT: Found another minor issue: If the player has a transpace jumpdrive installed, disables and removes it while it is charging the icon and status indicator is still displayed after the device has been removed.

I think this was supposed to be toned down a little for 1.2b4, but it didn't really work.

Im not having any luck with this 1.2 at all. It loads and the intro screen appears - but as soon as I try to start a new game going it crashes with a whole screen full of errors!

Using version 1.1 and this "auto-update" also just doesnt happen.

Here's the lengthy debug.log file from three failed attempts to get the game running.

Is it possible that you have a corrupt version of Transcendence.tdb? Please do me a favor:

1. Make a copy of Transcendence.tdb (call it "TranscendenceOld.tdb" or something)
2. Download the game again and see if it works.

Well, I redownloaded and reinstalled it, and it seemed to work.... until I got to about the 5th star system in, and the massive 30-error crashes started up again..... at total random. Further progress only see these errors and crashes become more frequent. The game even stops detecting it's own game saves!!!!!

I don't know what you've done to this game George, but you've totally broken it!

The game actually seems to use less ram, rather than more now.. Before my 'testing' of TSB (involving spawning tons of ships and stations and watching them fight) could run the game up to nearly 500MB - 11.2RC2 seems to approach only 300MB.

I think I figured it out. I believe it is a memory corruption problem with displaying news.

My system is four years old now - but Im sure it should be plenty enough to run Trancendence!

My Windows is still the old XP though, not sure if that is a problem. (I've never liked any Windows after XP!)

Also the last one just happened 10 minutes ago when I tried firing a Green Strelka missile for the first time..... which got me thinking, I'm sure a lot of the other crashes happened when doing something, or meeting a particular type of ship for the first time during the run of the game. Any clue in that I wonder? Its a serious pain in the arse when an unexpected random crash happens when you've not saved for a good 2 hours!

The game is troublesome when first loading it, sometimes its the 3rd or 4th loading before it starts going without crashing - or the game saves being undetectable. I was suspecting a Multiverse issue here.

Do you have the latest service pack for XP? If not Transcendence will return some weird errors.

I'm pretty certain now that this is a bug in news. The problem is that displaying news corrupts memory. After that, it could crash at any point (it just depends on when the corrupt piece of memory gets accessed). I have a fix for the problem, so the next version should be a lot more stable.

The next version should certainly work fine on XP (report a bug otherwise). The main constraint is memory. If you have > 512 MB and a large pagefile, you should be fine. [I've seen it work with less memory too, but your mileage may vary.]

I run on XP with 1 gb ram and no page file and only run into issues when something else has a memory leak.
