Playership Wolfen and Sapphire used to have the equivalent of 9 before 1.3. I think Wolfen should use either 12 or 13.5 (maneuver of 3 for 20 facings Wolfen got rounded up to 4 in old system).

For a ship with 120 facings, RotationAccel should not exceed 4.5. Otherwise, it gets hard to not skip frames even with light taps.

Last night, I re-rendered the Hornet to 120 facings and gave it 18 max and 4.5 accel. (6 accel is too fast for 120 facings.) It is very playable, and I have no problem steering it or aiming weapons; actually, it was fun.

Freyr should match Wolfen. Constellation should have slightly better max, say 6, (or keep 4.5 rotation max, but give it some advantage over the EI500) because it is an otherwise inferior ship to the EI500 (cargo bay locked, can't get more than 100 ton capacity). Manticore should get max of 9 like NPCs. If not, then 7.5 or no less than 6. It is a gunship, not a freighter.

You probably have a more responsive keyboard and are more used to twitch gaming. I'm using a wireless. I am against any accel over 3 unless there's both a gunship (3/9-3/12) and a fighter (4.5/15-4.5/18) in the same package. Even without hardware constraints that extra acceleration is going to make a steeper learning curve. The last thing this game as a whole needs is for the easy starting Wolfen to have a steeper learning curve.

I believe D&O II or possibly Near Stars would be the places to introduce a high performance ship with a steeper learning curve. Or allow devices to upgrade maneuver stats. That would also put the twitchier gaming past where rank newbies are exposed to it and make it optional for those satisfied with the starting stats.

I do not expect Wolfen to have the best rotation/speed stats out of all ships. That honor goes to the Hornet and Wind Slaver, both notorious (fragile) speedsters that make the Wolfen look slow. Both of them, as 20 facings ships, had maneuver of 1 (effectively 2); now they rotate with max of 18.

I agree that the Wolfen should not be hard to use. In beta 1, it was a royal pain to use because if my total mass was the wrong amount, I always skipped frames until I changed my mass. Now, in beta 2, after setting max back to 12, the Wolfen is easy to use again, thanks to 120 facings.

Is there a new version of transdata? Whichever version I'm running is giving an error about being unable to do things like generating the ship images (says that transcendence.exe needs to be a new version)

Would it be possible to bind a secondary set of maneuvering keys that turn at a half or quarter rate for fine aiming? It would make sense that a starship would be able to fire it's thrusters at less than full power, so I don't think that this would break gameplay or immersion. The main trouble I have with high rotation speed ships is lining up stations with howitzers from long range, so fine maneuvering keys would fix that issue right up. This would also allow the mfullain maneuvering speed to be quite high because a high maximum angular speed won't necessarily be a detriment to aiming.

What I've always wanted is a mouse mode with something like
left button = thrust
right button = turn to face the cursor
middle button = brake

That would take all the fiddlyness out of large numbers of facings.

The upcoming 120 facings ships library for PSD will feature an optional mod for 120 facings NPCs. <ShipClassOverride> made this much easier than before. Not quite omni, but should level the playing field somewhat.

George, it seems that the overflow exploit is still working.
Just hold down 1 for a couple of seconds in a sell dockscreens and it works.

I noticed that ships with transparent parts (made possible by 8-bit masks) have said transparent parts shown in purple.
