I've released a new build with fixes for all the major problems in 1.7 Alpha 2. The new build should download automatically. The fixes are listed here:

Standalone is working fine. Looks like there's something broken in the steam version somewhere.

For whatever reason, it seems to be working now. Not sure exactly why. I'll keep digging.
