Finally, I've released 1.8 Beta 2! This build contains lots bug fixes and minor updates. The complete list of changes is in the usual place:

Fixes: https://ministry.kronosaur.com/program. ... ed&tag=101
API 41: https://ministry.kronosaur.com/record.hexm?id=78005

I've also updated Corporate Command, Eternity Port, and Vault of the Galaxy (again, just bug fixes and minor updates).

If you don't already have the 1.8 release, you can download it here: https://downloads.kronosaur.com/TranscendenceNext.zip
If you already have 1.8 Beta 1, it will automatically download the update when you sign in.
As with other releases, I recommend starting a new game--otherwise, there is the potential for some minor discrepancies.

I'm going to spend a couple of weeks working on Anacreon and then I'll be back working on Part II (which is coming along nicely, but still needs a lot of work).

Please feel free to add bugs to Ministry as you find them: https://ministry.kronosaur.com/program.hexm?id=1

Thanks to everyone who reported bugs and contributed code, especially NMS, relanat, ferdinand, and giantcabbage. New to the credits this release are: Cinnabar, Derakon, and N1ddhog. Thank you!

I experimented with the sysCreateEffect improvements, except the parameters struct given seems to be ignored. I pass a length, but the effect drawn uses the default or whatever was defined within the effect type. In other words, sysCreateEffect has effectively remained unchanged since prior API.
Download and Play in 1.9 beta 1...
Drake Technologies (Alpha): More hardware for combat in parts 1 and 2!
Star Castle Arcade: Play a classic arcade game adventure, with or without more features (like powerups)!
Playership Drones: Buy or restore exotic ships to command!

Other playable mods from 1.8 and 1.7, waiting to be updated...
Godmode v3 (WIP): Dev/cheat tool compatible with D&O parts 1 or 2.

I swear I tested it! Could you send me an isolated mod that shows the problem? I'll debug it.

Turns out the <GetParameters> event interferes with passed struct, even if they do not share a field. I removed that event from the effect to fix that.

Ronins look great. A nice surprise.
And the turrets and duals too, and the new item images in VOTG.

Anyone else getting docking problems at the Efreet Metropolis? "No station in range" when there are 5 ports empty.

Have attached a patch for the mission screen error.
https://ministry.kronosaur.com/record.hexm?id=79604
It overwrites dsRPGMissionJournal.

The renewed stations were a pleasant surprise, also some of the ships have been overhauled as well, very nice, looks a lot better every time!

Cool update.

Is it just me or are the vikings much larger now?

Not just you, and not just the Viking! The Barbary and Corsairs are a bit bigger, too, and the Sapphire is significantly larger. They all got remodeled for this release, and everything now has 120 facings, even the ones that haven’t been redesigned.

Just a bit of feedback prompted by playing 1.7 and 1.1 recently.

The disabled Loot action if no items are present is a great improvement. Hat tip to NMS.

Every one of new weapon images look really good (the turrets are awesome). As do the recolored Centurions and Ronins. The Ronins especially (plus they no longer all look like a grey blob now)!

The item count from the cargo hold is excellent. Well done to (I think it was) tarbos for that brilliant idea. So useful.

The new Korolov escort mission screen doesn't only look good but is also much more user friendly. Nice one.

Personally I very much like all the variations of the standard Commonwealth station. The 8 section modular appearance as well as the textures and shapes make them look very 'spacey' for want of a better word.

The new Battle Arena also looks good, very Coliseum-ish. Once again the textures just seem right, especially on the wall segments. Also the light/shadow where the light comes through the gaps in the wall segments in the bottom right section is very well done.

&ssEarthSpaceIceAsteroids; is a great system. The merging asteroid arcs and the overlapping orbits of the planets work really well.

And the Dock Services selector screens are also a big improvement over using itempicker lists. Having the ship image in the display background with ship information or slots shown over it is an excellent feature.

This game has been unplayable for some time now (months).
I don't know if this is being worked on or not but it either crashes or says it can't start the game. I can't even log in anymore. It used to let me log in and then crash trying to load the extensions.
I have bought the extensions for this game and now that it is unplayable I really expected more. Fortunately I have saved a long list of older versions that do play but I can't speak for anyone else.

I'm not having these problems. Do you get any kind of message when it crashes? What does it say exactly when it fails to start a game? Have you tried downloading a fresh copy or removing everything from your extensions folder?

So this happens in a fresh installation with no extensions, save files, or modified setttings?
