"Captain! A Ranx Dreadnought requests premission to dock."
"He has an ID."
"How do you know it's not from one of our many, many dead guys?"
"Is it the Pilgrim?"
"Let him board."
^^^ what is going on through my head everytime I dock.
Ok, so I'm playing as a Ranx DN, and I was wondering why the CSC captain lets me dock. I'm also wondering how I dock, although that is something for a later discussion.

Because it's known that the Dreadnought is not piloted by the Ranx. It's something known as IFF- Identify, Friend or Foe. It's a transponder that relays a signal stating who you are. While IFFs can be taken from a dead ship and reused, it would take a high level of hacking to get it right- and even then, because each IFF transponder is for a different ship, if your profile doesn't match the ship it's attached to, that's an immediate alert.
