game not loading it win7 ultimate 64

Post by sdw195 » Tue Dec 21, 2010 9:48 pm

from the_curse on irc

opening causes the .exe to draw 50% cpu load (on a dual core), no reaction whatsoever from the application. it just hangs,
os is win7 ultimate, dx 11, nvidia gtx295
/nodx and /windowed does nothing and /dx give a black screen
/windowed and /dx fixes the black screen

we tried /exclusive
it gave a black screen but the app drew 12.5% less ram (175 not 200)

the only "feedback" is with /dx the black screen, else no graphics at all. no window, task panel icon or whatever
/debugvideo

It might help to get some info on DirectX:

1. Click the Windows button on the lower-left of the screen.
2. Type "dxdiag" and press Enter.
3. Click the "Save all information" button and save to a file.
4. Upload the file somewhere so we can see it.

Not sure if that will help, but it's worth to try.

Thanks for debugging this!

I'm almost wondering if they tried another sdl game to see if it worked, I'm guessing (as I have a similar setup) there is a broken driver or broken memory.
