According to the 1.06 changelog area fragments were reworked at that time
I've reworked how shockwave-type weapons cause damage. See: http://wiki.neurohack.com/transcendence/trac/ticket/473 for details.
IIRC they were given limitations on how many hits they could produce per tick, but area fragments are not documented on the wiki or the forum and the bug track no longer exists.

Without the missing documentation non-default area fragments can't be written and with the actual values used by default unknown they cannot be balanced.

Would it be possible to have a txt dump of the bug tracker ? We could definitely work on that.

It would be a start. I don't think shockwave is the only thing that was only documented in a bug report or feature request response.

Currently, shockwaves have a default areaDamageDensity="32" (fragments for shockwaves) and passthrough="80". They can be changed.

Yes, it would be nice if we had a text dump of the bug tracker. It had some valuable information found only there, and now that information is lost. One example is interaction of firing arcs between device slots and items.
