I was just noticing that non-energy weapons are in some ways much less attractive in the late game than energy weapons, for the simple reason that they are much harder to enhance to their full potential.

It's not hard to collect enough Longzhu Spheres to take one, or even two energy weapons up to +150%, which in the case of the IM90 is just devastating. Nothing in the game lasts more than a few seconds against that, even the Polaris Dreadnought.

Alas, when it comes to plasma, thermo or other non-energy weapons, there's very little you can do with them as you'll never collect enough of their specific upgrades to max them out. Best to just slap a +Fast on them instead and call it a day.

Side note: You don't seem to be able to order Weapon Enhancement ROM's at the corporate stations - they always assume you want 'DAMAGED Weapon Enhancement ROMs' instead. Yeah, thanks but no thanks. Another argument for hitting most of your weapons with Optimization ROM's instead and just saving up those spheres for a big late game enhancement.

For me, the option to just increase speed on weapons are far better cost-wise than just powering it up. Why increase the power of a slam cannon when increasing it's rate of fire would make it much more deadly? Thoughts of the repeller come to mind.

a +Fast Akan last until Heretic
a fusionfire howizer do not need to be enhanced, nothing last more than a few seconds with it.:D

and I'm very unlucky with longzhu spheres, I never managed to find more than a dozen.
Last game I had 10, just because I ordered 6 of them.

I think he meant Weapon enhancers. And he's right, as long as you know what they're called ie Particle source upgrade, tritium injector, ion capacitor. Personally I stock up on Thermo upgrades. Then when I get the fusion fire I can do some REAL damage.
This is our game. And George is our hero.

no, they don't work on missile launchers, those are in the secondary slot, which is not touched by enhancers.

Whoops. Yep. Getting my obscure vector-thrust alien races mixed up there. ;)
