[spoiler] End game shields
What are your favourite end game shields? I have been using a 150% (100?) Mammoth Shield, and not even the iocrym can penetrate this beast. The only trouble comes in the form of windslavers, though I have my dwarg behemoths for such an occasion.

I favor the Plasma Shield with +hp enhancers pre-Heretic for its reasonable power draw or an Ion Reflector with green or yellow ethyrium on it.
For Iocrym fighting the Superconducting Shield is viable. The Iocrym actually put out a lot less damage than an Arean capship.

I am definitely in favor of the Tailkon. It is resistant to higher damage types and only ion damage can really put a dent in it. With Ion reflect, not even Ion damage will put a dent in it. With the level IX shields, you have to worry about Ares Archcannons (AAC's).
Atarlost: "Arean"? I think its just "Ares capship". Arean seems kind of...weird. In game they always refer the the Ares by that name as in "the Ares clones" and "Ares outpost". It is called the Phobos, btw.

I know! It's so fun to go up against a phobos in that!digdug wrote:An Ion reflecting Kaidun is nearly invincible.

Arean is the proper adjectival form. Just because George wants to simplify the language doesn't mean I intend to. And I wasn't talking about the Phobos. I was talking about the Phobos and Diemos. Both put out more damage than the Iocrym, at least between 16 and 80 light seconds. And face it, most people fight somewhere between 16 and 80 ls.F50 wrote:Atarlost: "Arean"? If I'm able to get the class V shield, enhance it +150=250 @ 5 HP regen, I use it all the way up to the Iocrym...and can beat it...while using the freighter.
Of course this requires the ICX (w/Collimator), mega drive (enhanced), Cnydosyst launcher (w/Ion enhance or EMP cannon w/Ion enhance) and Lamplighter (enhanced +Fast). And for armor I use that mil-grade stealth in order to get in the first strike.
Get in front of it and match speed and drift, turn to face it and rip its shields with the Lamplighter. Then EMP it, Blast it w/LL, repeat.... Boom!
Haven't ever lost that shield to the Iocrym.

I agree with the taikon 200. Enhanced to +150%, It's an 800 hp level x sheild that resistant to many, many things.
Ironically, I find that I am most likely to find the T200 in a taikon shop, which means that the best shield in the game is usually only available before, not after, point juno.

Enhanced Kaidun or Taikon-200 (even plain!),but in speedruns I prefer Kaidun (you don't need to pay for it!).
