Why do we love Transcendence? What is it that makes us love this game, that makes us mod for it, that makes us belong to this forum despite the fact that we should probably be doing something just slightly more productive with our time, and above all, what is it that draws us to each and every new release, and keeps us hanging out for more? I present to you:
The Transcendence Adoration Thread

To make it easy for everyone, just copy and paste what I have in the code box below into your own post and fill in the gaps (that way it's all nicely formatted and nobody has to fight with all the BBCode tags :D )

Code: Select all

[b]I love Transcendence because:[/b]
[b]Title[/b] - [i]Reason[/i]
You can fill in as many of them as you want, and talk about each point for as long as you like. I'll be interested to see if we agree on some things, and whether there is a recurring theme. Mine are:

I love Transcendence because:
Random Generation - Every time I play, I get a different bunch of systems, different oppurtunity to buy weapons, armour etc, different fights, and a different experience all around
The Strategies - There are many different ways of getting cash, getting new stuff and tackling the late-game ships
The Stories - Trans has a rich storyline, unique and fresh to the space game genre, and one that over multiple playthroughs allows you different peeks into it's intertwined and engaging story

So, come on, everyone feel free to make their comments! What do you love about Transcendence?

I like the modding. I like to have long, difficult projects I can work on for extended time.

Modding, community, and the fact that nobody bothered to copy-paste the initial format (the latter just being something funny I noticed), the frequent release pattern & accomodations for modding george makes for us, and the fact that it was an awesome game to begin with.

Random Generation Unlike most games I enjoy.

Variety Enemies are varied in tactics, ships, stations, and loot; and each and every group has its own rich and developed back-story.
Ships can be configured differently every game with different equipment/weapons, and you don't HAVE to play as a good guy!

It takes place in space Nuff said!!

Each release adds or modifies what came before it They are not just to fix bugs or issues, so I look forward to new releases to see what has changed.

MODS The game is not just mod-friendly, it is actually encouraged. Vanilla is fun, frustrating and difficult all rolled into one fun experience. Some mods make it easier (Almighty Wrench) and I know that there are some that make it more difficult. Versatility!!!!
For Sale: One slightly used EI500 freighter. Hull damaged, primary weapon defective, shields inoperable. Must be towed to Dry-dock. Make an offer!!

He didn't actually...the format was BOLD - ITALICS. He did BOLD&UNDERLINE - Plain Text.

But whatever, it's not critical. :D

Ok, one half out of 5. Still, 10% isn't bad.

I love Transcendence because...

1. Awesome community: everyone is awesome.
2. Things explode.
3. The fact that the game is deliberately made in order to make modder's lives easy.
4. The game is really really varied, unlike lots of games I play.
5. The massive amount of content in the game, you never get bored (and each release just adds more stuff)
6. Because I think George is a pretty cool guy; Eh scripts aliens, and doesn't afraid of anything.
