I've been working on an idea on my spare time when I'm not busy by working on a "Learning to Programming using Transcendence", rough title of course. But I have been working with educators and educates to get a general idea what would be possible. So far its pretty promising, and I hopefully will put this up on github, my final plan is to (pending your approval george) have a Ebook and a Lesson Plan for people to use. This effort is primarily to learn Transcendence a bit better my self and to promote the game a bit more.

I know this is pretty ambitious, and if you don't approve (or want to do it your self) I will gladly yield.

I think its instructors resources, so it would be stuff for like a school to adopt or something.

I think it's a great idea, and of course I approve. Let me know if you need anything more formal than that.

Please keep us posted on your progress!

I might have a few questions, well quite possibly a lot. Right now I might need some really awesome background information to fill in. But right now I'm trying to build up a general outline. Transcendence has a ton of flexibly, however parenthesis(s) scare people and its hard to get someone to look at any lisp dialect. So I'm trying to figure out how to make "LISP for Dummies", since I am a dummy, I think I can manage.

But here is the general idea:
  • Introduction
  • A brief history of the Commonwealth (Background information and general ideas)
  • Understanding the the basics
  • Developing with Extensions and Mods
    • Moding - Starting with a sample ship mod and grow
    • SystemAdditions and Systems??
  • Building your own game
  • How to get help
Graphics design I'm going to be dead on but can try to work on that.

For everyone but you. :D
But honestly, I have no idea right now, I'd like to at least have 50-100 pages done before I consider releasing it to more then this community.

Ttech: collect tutorials from Modding Reference is a start. Then from there, ask the experienced modders for turorials for things not covered yet.
There are tutorials about making topology (I remember George wrote about this stuff too in another thread [how to loop, etc], but I can't remember where it is.)
Making a System
Making Stargate Topology
F50's Modding tutorial-- His modding Tutorial even has Chapters and Parts!
Add pictures and more text about focusing on how LISP works rather than more on Trans.
If this is a class to teach how to use LISP (I personally wasn't afraid of the parentheses-- TLISP is the first language I ever bothered learining!)
Then Trans should take a backdrop to the mechanics. Only se Transcendence to show the credibility of the written code of the students, but don't focus on Transcendence itself.
*EDIT: Don't forget the Wiki!-- there's LOTS of material on Trans, the problem is they're scattered everywhere!

I can make use of this perhaps, but the issue is that it is licensed to them - they own that work they did. if I use or refernce it in my work I have to get an ok'd first. The first thing I need to do is get used to Transcendence scripting and such. Graphics design will be indeed a lot of work for me.

In my opinion promoting this game is really simple work. If you (all) want I can make this game extremly popular :) But I think this is a bad idea. This forum is for the "elite", and so it should remain. I can imagine what will be there if we will have 5000 ACTIVE members. :?

I don't likes e-books, but if sombody makes the text i can make (order) the book. Books is my second hobby and I
will be grateful if I'll have a few units of this book :D Maked in my cost. So summing up:

1. If somebody who know this game well maked a text, then everybody will can order book in their country.
I have some connections in Warsaw, so i can print many books in low cost :!:
2. To promote game I can make or order profesional stickers or do something else what you want, as I said promote isn't hard. :!:
3. I don't do anything without George blessing :D
4. This post is REALLY serious, and I want to be useful there. :D
5. I can't imagine how the E-book will be ?

Post there what do you thing. Greetings

May I be permitted to offer my services? I have written a few tutorials on modding, and have been trained in entry level web design by Penn Foster Career School, graduating last year with a career diploma in the same. I also learned much of HTML programming and the use of tags from modding Transcendence, before enrolling at Penn Foster, so I attribute at least part of my success to the game and its noble creator (that's you, George).

I don't see why the community can't help, but as I said before. I need to get some solid work done on it first, once I got something more then an outline I will let people know what they can help on. But I have worked on projects before that have become vapor ware and don't want to let people down.
