Not sure if this is the right section for this.
I can't get it to work. I'm a linux USER and I don't normally use terminal. I'm running linuxmint 13 64bit, wine-1.5.14 and Transcendence 1.08g. I type wine Transcendence.exe in terminal having set it to executable. What I get is a black screen and music. In the terminal window I get messages about GStreamer, quartz and mciqtz. Do I need to add library's in wine or install something in linux or is it the fact that I'm using 64bit linux?

I tried the instructions from here and it ran. It was on a mac, but I haven't tried on Linux...
I'll see if the guys on IRC have something.

Umm, that does sound like missing dependancies / shared libraries. Trans comes with everything it needs on the windows side, so probably linux stuff. I don't know anything about mint, but if you have a package manager like apt or rpm or whatever, see if you can fetch packages with names like what it's complaining about, or see if it thinks you already have them, or what.

Transcendence can run both in GDI or Directx mode.
Can you try these command line switches by forcing GDI or Directx modes and see if it works ?

Thanks digdug
I tried
wine cmd
Transcendence.exe /nodx
that didn't work. Then I tried
wine cmd
Transcendence.exe /dx
that worked. That's when I read the text at the bottom and realised I was running wine as Windows XP not windows 7. Changed it in wine configuration and now it all works.
Thanks all for your help.

Should we add this to the trac?
I know we don't have a Linux section yet, but as an example: http://wiki.neurohack.com/transcendence ... n=Wine-Mac
