Most shops try to push this deflector on you so they must have a great advertising department. Default upgrade option aside, that is, I tend to get randomized this shield more than any other.
I prefer the Cyclotron line of shields, myself.

I recently encountered a facility selling a "4 Monopole" thingy. I checked the stats and there's no difference between the standard monopole and the one with the "4."

Are you sure it didn't say it had four monopoles in stock?

Hmm, I'll take a screenshot of it later. It's somewhere in Part 11 of my Let's Play methinks.
I often wish that the station would automatically install the highest level shield generator for sale (someone make a mod please!)
I mean if the highest level shield a shop sells is the Class III deflector for example, it won't want to autoinstall a monopole deflector on your ship, it will want to install Class III deflectors instead.

(To FourFire:) Do you mean armor dealers installing a better shield when you select upgrade shield generator? If so, I have one buried within Relief Pack 912. It can go up to Yoroi S500.
