You can't reasonably guess it. So it's not an option in single-segment. But you can get it in dev mode with (typGetGlobalData 1712140 "VaultCode"). So in a segmented run you could just magically know the code.Warped wrote:How can you guess the Code for the Europa weapons vault?
Transcendence speedrunning
Keeping it simple. No autons, no Longreach, no non-final upgrades other than shields and reactor. There's probably not a huge amount of time left to save. It would be nice to get a good deathless run though. I guess I could skip armor upgrades altogether, but I'd have to be careful, especially of pteravores. I've been very happy with the TM7. It shows up most games and not having to aim carefully lets me autopilot for a lot of the ICS fight.
I looked into some other options in Heretic. The Ringers' mission (Huygens Explorer) took about 1:30. The Nares-Strong mission (Anomaly) took about 2:10 but could be more like 1:10 if I guess right on the third probe (50%), or longer if I'm unlucky and the second probe is out of range. The Taikon mission (Xenophobe ark) is pretty doable if you park on top of it so it's escorts can't shoot you, but then they chase you forever and probably catch up during the ICS fight. The Sisters' mission (Iocrym archive) could be pretty fast, but I'm not very good at it. Killing the pteravores doesn't help because you don't get a ROM for it. So I think I'll stick with the first 2.

I'll probably upload the video tomorrow.NMS

I set a new record recently (on version 1.2 for the text rollover glitch) with 20:31.
Xephyr wrote:I play on the most recent version, but I think my best runs were pre-1.5. I killed the ICS and got through the stargate in an incredible 17:32 (or close to that, I'm going off of memory). I was only able to do it because a Ringers shipyard torched a Phobos Dreadnaught, leaving an intact kaidlun and APA. I don't think the RNG was ever that kind to me before or since.
I've been trying to record a speedrun so I can show off but I haven't had time to sit down and get good runs in in a while.
That is some astonishing luck. Too bad it wasn't recorded. I'd like to speedrun a more recent version for full screen and music, but I can't imagine how many attempts it would take to get something like that to happen. I guess it would be workable if I went back to the idea of a segmented run (with the noFullCreate option).
The APA is amazing at normal speed, but when I got it in a run (from Teratons), I failed pretty hard at killing the ICS quickly. After a bunch of practice and getting disintegrated, I concluded that without really good defenses, it's about as fast as the TM7 due to not being able to autopilot so much. I also tried the omni thermo, but the higher precision really didn't make up for the lower damage output.

If you find a tinker station you can often make a couple Lucifers (not a whole lot) in/around St. Kat's since there are usually Sapiens camps with fusion triggers there. With those you could knock out and loot a Ferian mine, jump ahead to a teraton fabricator, crank out a couple hundred more Lucifers and try to take out Heretic that way. (Watch out for those disintegrators! Also, the Wolfen probably can't carry enough to kill the ICS.) I don't know how time-efficient this would be, though- certainly fast in "game time" but not in actual gameplay time since you would have to cycle through the fabricator screen a lot. Alternately, I believe the Ferian Plasma Cannon from a Ferian Warrior is just barely viable in Heretic.
Another possibility would be to use your Lucifers against friendly stations, CSCs, etc. to get high-level loot quickly.
