The commonwealth military seems to be supplied by Pacific Defense Corporation.
Alot of ships are made by whoever owns them. It would be better if they where supplied by a company in that sovereign.
United African States makes most of the ships used by the corp and the black market.

Sorry, my mind was still tuned in on the discussion of hero ships and variations of ship equipment & which faction should be most ..uh... various.
There a little background of this sort would be helpful.

@goat
Was that in reply to my last message? Cos I don't get the connection.
Maybe I was too undefined in my choise of words.
What I meant was, that having the background to the factions/ sovereigns could proof useful when one wanted to discuss if a certain faction/ sovereign should have variations in their ships equipment or be more standartisized.
E.g. a large military force like the commonwealth is likely to have standart equipment for their ships, since it's cheaper (to buy in bulk), easier to train & replace crew etc.
A group like pirates on the other hand is likely to be a mix of all kinds of salvaged, stolen and otherwise gotten ships & equipment.

I'm pro-Commonwealth, so if the game ever goes multi-player, I'll be aiming for GnS

If ship info becomes more detailed during the game without having to consult xml docs, this would be needed for a 'stat screen'. Right now it doesn't seem that there is anywhere that you can really see the manufacturer while playing.
