Stargates are a bit hard to find in EP

I just bough EP, and noticed that unlike SotP, EP Stargates spawn on top of major stellar objects much less often?
Moreover, has the exploration auton behavior changed to not finding stargates for the Player?
I got to Heilong Xing and Sanctuary in both paths, and have explored the two systems for about 20 minutes without finding the stargate to move forward.

Yeah, this maps onto what I've seen in EP. Stargates are more likely to spawn in void or extremely dispersed asteroid belts, exploration autons either don't visit stargates at all or fail to update the map once they encounter them, and the player doesn't get access to Nebular Vision (which is sometimes useful for finding stargates.) I think it may still be possible to get stargate visions from contemplating at Sisters stations after donating but I'm not sure.
