I checked out a guide and it said to activate it and it will chat.
I did that and nothing happen. I try and select the power while targeting a ship and nothing happens.

CDM shard, not useable at all?
I think I disabled talking to the shard in one of my pull requests because it was never really implemented. You could enter text, but it would always respond with something like "I don't understand". Using the shard and invoking powers is working fine for me though. Note that overload requires a target, but disarm and paralyze just affect all nearby hostiles.

Hello ATR, and Welcomes to Transcendence!
We just started using the CDM. Have only gotten her/him to Level Four by "connecting" items.
What we did: Powered up CDM; Press "U" to Use the CDM and select "Connect Item;" various ROMs and Cubes have been connected to get us Level Four. Only "power" not accessible is the one that hacks Startons/Stations and causes random item to be ejected into space...
