Ordering unidentified items
If you order un-identified regen barrels at the Trading post, you only have to pay 210 credits (the un-identified barrel price), but once you identify them, you pay the usual price.

I also discovered you can ID without IDing some barrels by taking them to the tinker and offering them for custom work - radioactive waste will give you the radiation gun even if you don't have the barrel IDed, likewise you can get some kinds of armor from some barrels. This way you can identify which type of barrel has waste in it and sell it to stations.
I think any barrel that is used successfully for custom work at a tinker should be automatically identified.
