While it might cause a nice visual effect, I think WMD would be more appropriate, given not only its function, but the fact that it would be horrible balance to create a device that can both mine effectively and fight effectively; the ranx mining device is laser-based anyways, basically a brute-force approach to the stock mining laser used on massive mining rigs. They would not repurpose a mining device and stick it on their dreadnought anyways; they have had the time and technology to develop proper weapons, and much more advanced to boot.

Currently working on the Imperial Super-Dreadnought; however, I won't have time to finish it before I leave early tomorrow morning for a bit over a week. So currently it is just a model (I actually modeled both the top & bottom of the ship in case I wanted to be able to see the bottom in say, some sorts of promotional work.)

Just to note, the modelling is still not finished; I have some tri fixes to continue doing, a bit more detailing here and there, and I also need to add in a bunch of secondary models to quickly toss in details that would have been difficult to model in directly (such as certain weapon mounts, details on the spike hardpoints, etc).

Some information on the design:

This is the first new Imperial combat ship in quite some time, with the exception of the also-recent Advanced Gunship; the Ranx Empire lost much of its original engineering capacity shortly after its formation due to the purges that resulted in the majority of their talent (who sympathized with the prior government) to be ousted, who mostly went on to form the Resistance or join Rasiermesser. As a result, it bears more similarity to recent ship designs than the old ones that had been in production during much of the last century (the recent designs including the Mining rig, Ore superfreighter and military freighter). This ship rivals the Ansabi Command Ship in size, and is designed to be able to wipe out entire fleets, and destroy stations and capital ships at a significant distance, before they get in range; a choice made in order to counter the already long range of the Ares Plasma Archcannon. It has a pair of flight decks, allowing it to launch a fair quantity of gunships and advanced gunships, and bristles with a very large compliment of secondary weapons, including multiple turreted kiloton cannons. Like the smaller Imperial Dreadnought, the Imperial Super-Dreadnought lacks shielding, but makes up for it with armor repair systems, and an extremely thick variant of Transuranic plating.

The player is not expected to go one on one with this ship; in fact, the player will have a bunch of Ringer and Resistance (and possibly some corporate) ships as well when engaging the fully active one. There is a second one under construction, which the player is tasked with disabling the shipyard defenses.

In other news, I am attempting to use one of my old computers to continue work on this ship; I'll see how that goes. Its not a terribly powerful computer, though it does have better graphics capabilities than my laptop, so....
