My debut mod is now up on Xelerus. http://xelerus.de/index.php?s=mod&id=217 These are player ships with mass limits on device installation.

The HUD graphics are based on work by Darksider. Betel assisted with scripting.
Graphics were done in Blender and Gimp.

Feedback is appreciated.

Updated at about 1:30 GMT
slightly better lit in game graphics, debug messages removed, some code formatting improvements, and an adjustment to ship equipment I'd forgotten to save before building the zip.

i like the use of the staticdata, in this way it's easy to expand the mod to more ships in a very easy way.

those limits in device mass are interesting. I like the idea of the total device mass limit, it makes some interesting choices.

There is currently a problem with the Tempest and the Arena. It is possible to get in and out. You must approach the gate with a low enough velocity that the rebounding force is less than your acceleration until you start getting pushed back, then thrust continously while adjusting your angle until the ship starts moving between the gate posts. You can then stop thrusting and the ship will drift through.
