I have a couple of projects going, and so I thought I would solicit any ideas or suggestions y'all might have...

Defiant Ship Class & StarFleet Weaponry:
So I took the Defiant gfx (made by Digdug, see? I remembered ;)) and am making it into the hybrid warmachine we all love from DS9.

I used the Phaser XII from the 1701e mod, but toned down the damage and range. I'm thinking of making a full tech range of these as well.

I'm making my own Torpedo Launcher and a full series of torpedo ammo (off the top of my head there was photon, antimatter, and quantum), using the starburst effect ala the archcannon, but functioning as a seeker missile.

The primary guns of the Defiant are *Pulse* Phasers (I think), not the long beams of a std phaser, (although I think they did have one std array) so I've managed to adapt the effects of the Iocrym repeller, and it looks GREAT! (queue flashback to the battle of the wormhole) 8)

Singularity Cannon:
This is a very short range but very powerful singularity weapon, originally based on the Morningstar Cannon. It fires a single short-lived particle that does a large amount of 'singularity' damage (duh). It's a great base/station destroyer, but it's so short ranged you have to be careful of the base explosion, and it's fairly difficult to use against faster ships. I'm aiming to make it a balanced weapon for the latter stages (tech X).

Flak Defense Cannon & Missile Defense:
This weapon is making me chew on my fingernails. It fires a cloud (yeah, morningstar again) of antimatter (for now) particles in a 180 degree spread (kinda, game engine limitations) that is very short ranged. it's too powerful as a primary weapon, so I'm trying to make a missile defense turret out of it, but with limited success. Seems even the vanilla MissileDefense sux donkey balls, so I'm trying to make a better one.

...

Any way, if any of you have any ideas or suggestions along these lines, please share! I'm going to be spending a fair portion of today with my head in some StarTrek wiki looking up all the freakin' weapons they came up with.

PHASed Energy Rectification (what?)

Phasers make a beam of a fictional type of subatomic particles called "rapid nadions". (yeah, right, call it plasma for damage)

Phaser Type 1-3 (hand weapons)
Phaser Type 4 (shuttle mounted, barely)
Phaser Type 8 (ship mounted banks, forward firing, red)
Phaser Type 10 (ship mounted array, omni. gold)
Phaser Type 12 (ship mounted array, omni, extended range and power, gold? screw it, cyan)

Phaser Cannon (ship mounted, forward firing, RoF up to 12/sec, gold)
"The Pulse Phaser is an advanced heavy weapon designed for a high rate of fire and a high damage yield ... The Pulse Phaser was developed by Starfleet as a weapon to combat future Borg incursions and was first fitted onto the prototype U.S.S. Defiant. The device functions similarly to a standard Phaser, but without a continuous beam. The energy emissions are instead stored in a magnetic field, allowing them to coalesce and agitate to higher energy states. The field is then redirected, forcing the burst of Phaser energy toward the target. This process is repeated rapidly using multiple magnetic field generators, and the result is a stream of phased energy projectiles. Although the range of such a weapon is much less than the standard Phaser due to rapid dissipation, from close range the pulse Phaser can do more damage than most Phaser types. The weapon has since been adapted to function on most Federation ships."
Photon torpedoes are a standard ship-based weapon armed with an matter/antimatter warhead.

Photonic Torpedo (prototype, very old, ?)
Photon Torpedo Mark VI (red, old)
Photon Torpedo Mark VII (gold, std)
Photon Torpedo Mark X (white, rare)
Photon Torpedo Mark XXV (white, last gen)

Quantum torpedoes derive their destructive power from zero-point energy. (woot! zero-point weapon, finally)

Pho-torp Mark Q-II (white/cyan)
"The quantum torpedo is an advanced heavy weapon developed by Starfleet as a part of its Advanced Defense Initiative to combat Borg incursions. As the photon torpedo reached what many Starfleet researchers agreed was its highest possible explosive yield, a group of engineers at the Starfleet R&D facility on Groombridge 273-2A began investigating methods for achieving a higher release of energy from a projectile of equal dimensions to the photon torpedo."

180 degree spread (kinda, game engine limitations)
Are you using a custom configuration? because the maximum angle of a particles type weapon is 90 degrees.

That explains a lot  ... Try a setting of 360, it fires tiny little balls of particles instead of a spread.

Anyway, I'm please to announce the 1st Beta release of my USS Defiant.

It's still a godling ship while I'm testing/bughunting/obsessing, and the base playership settings are nowhere near canon for the SF universe, but hey, it works

Enjoy!

*DROOOOL*

info-overload :) this will delay my V1 of the Defiant by a bit, but expect much more when it's all said and done.
