-Shiny new title, yay.-

Okay. I have been inactive for a while, since I have my university studies and have gone over to the Star Citizen forums to root for the new game (you should too if you have time). At the meantime, I have expanded this universe considerably, at least in the backstory department. Therefore I am announcing a re-launch of the mod under than name "The Moreillian Chronicles: A Prejudiced Galaxy". I envision the 100% completed version of this mod will be a TC of transcendence, with several new single-player adventures. But ship-pack modules will be released as they are completed for the sake of fun and enjoyment.

Of course, given the incredible amount of resources required and the lack of time on my part, I do not expect this mod to be done in a jiffy. In fact, a realistic estimate would be at least two full years. But if we don't start, we'll never reach the end. Therefore, if anyone would like to lend a hand in art, coding, 3D-modelling and texturing (I can supply rudimentary designs in 3D or drawings), please post here or PM me. I will for now focus on drafting background stories, ship settings, general information and lore, and think of several storylines.

"Ragnarök. The fight of gods so almighty that would destroy all of earth and every being who lives on it.

Do we accept this and await our impeding and inevitable ruin? To allow their feet crush our cities into the ground as they use our home as their battlefield?

Or is there a way to stand up to the warring gods, parry their ancient swords and lances with our guns and cannons, and declare, in front of their defeated might, that we, no matter how insignificant we may appear, are entitled to the same dignity as they do?

Eons ago, the Moreillians, being caught in the middle of a colossal war between the fanatic worshipers of two ancient gods, The Father of Destruction and The Mother of Cataclysm, asked themselves that very question." -An Introduction to Galactic History by Ohm Strauss, Chapter 3, The Ancient Conflicts.

(Basically think of Moreillia as being stuck in a situation not unlike that of Sweden or Switzerland during World War Two. The nation happened to be right in the middle of the frontline and possessed valuable resources. And thus, both belligerents were eager to conquer Moreillia for additional war materiel or convince her to join their course. However, the "warring gods" were fighting with magic-enhanced sticks and swords while the Moreillians had steam power, thus they had a slight edge over the gods, at least in their own land. At that time both sides had no space-borne FTL, and relied on planetary intersection to get from one world to another. In effect, imagine the Shaman tribes in Populous The Beginning VS the Vinci in Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends.)

"Dignity. Equality. Freedom. Liberty."-Motto of The Federal Republic of Moreillia

The Federal Republic of Moreillia (MOR-RIL-LI-IA) is one of the great powers of the galaxy, and is notable for its scientific and technological advances, philosophical discussion, and being constantly involved in wars.

The most prized artifact of Moreillia, The Earth Memory Core, have shaped Moreillian history ever since its introduction in 246. It contains practically all information regarding all aspects of a (at that time) technologically advanced people known as the humans, whose home planet, Earth, was once connected to Moreillia via intersection gates, devices that linked worlds between not only space, but time and reality as well.

The Moreillians themselves are also genetically same as the humans, and the leading theory is that humans who settled on ancient Moreillia through intersection gates went on to become the modern Moreillians, the same theory is also applied to several other races in the galaxy.

However, at an unspecified time in history, a disaster disrupted all contact between the two worlds, and the only thing left behind that is completely Earth in origin is the Memory Core, decryption is still taking place to this day and it is hoped that one day, the way to re-discover Earth would be found.

Moreillia is considered an abnormality in galactic politics as she is far too small a nation to possess the power she currently has, in terms of influence and economic power, she is considered close to established superpowers such as the WIS or the Dynasty, yet, she is also one of the least-populated nations in the galaxy. In addition, Moreillia has a disproportionately large defense spending compared even to iron-fisted military dictatorships, at almost 30% of the national GDP. However, this has not affected the living standards of the average citizen, which is one of the highest in the galaxy, due to its extremely low population.

Volume of controlled space: 53,200 cubic light years.

Total population: 7.3 billion

The Federal Republic of Moreillia is comprised of three states:

-The Principality of Anada (AN-NAR-DA)-
The three states of Moreillia were originally a single realm ruled by an absolute monarch, whose palace was at the pristine planet of Anada. There stood, and still stands, the Towering Azure, a palace tower almost a kilometre in height, constructed with sapphire and lapis lazuli. After the secession of both Tabinka and Lasbeak, the Monarch was killed in an assault by the Tabinkans, and his daughter took reign over the remaining space, forming the Principality.

Government: Constitutional Monarchy, Unitary parliamentary representative democracy

Population: 1.5 billion

(Ship colour: White with gold stripes)

-The Tabinka Confederacy (TA-BIN-KA)-
The most industrious and technologically advanced state, their capital world, Tabinka, has been converted to a planet-sized factory, with raw materials pouring in from mining operations set up in the adjacent systems of Mannerheim, Jotunheimir and Kirovgrad (mining rights shared with the Dern Socialist Republic).

Government: Federal republic, with directorial system and representative democracy

Population: 2.7 billion

(Ship colour: Dark red with black stripes)

-The Republic of Lasbeak (LAS-BEAK)-
A pacifistic, agrarian state, Lasbeak is famous in the galaxy for the vast farmlands and large, old-style windmills. Almost all food for eating and for thought in Moreillia come from the calm, easygoing and slightly rustic state. It is also the most populous state, although not by a large amount.

Government: Federal republic, with directorial system and direct democracy

Population: 3.1 billion

(Ship colour: Azure with gold stripes)

-Economy of Moreillia-

To an outsider, Moreillia can be either excessively libertarian or incredibly restrictive depending on the social background of the observer. Indeed, it has been described as being both a "Communist Welfare State" and a "Free Capitalist Dystopia" during one single session of an international meeting by the Wilsian Independent States and the People's Republic of Sinh respectively.

While small businesses operate basically in a Laissez-faire manner, unlike the free-market WIS, large-scale trade and commerce is tightly regulated by the federal government. Laws severely restricting the power of large corporations are in place such as the Interplanetary Corporation Share-Holding Act, which requires any Moreillian-registered business ventures with branches spanning more than one planet to hand over 50% of its company shares to the Moreillian Ministry of Commerce or their counterparts in each of the Moreillian states. The result of this is that most Moreillian businesses are usually limited to family or partner run ventures, while the largest of corporations are practically a department of the state.

Foreign businesses also find it difficult to exploit the Moreillian market, as the requirements set by the government are either unusually strict or downright unreasonable. This had led to frequent claims of protectionism from many other nations in many occasions.

The economy of Moreillia is somewhat similar, but different, to a closed economy. The federal government runs on the principle of ensuring that interior production can fully meet interior demands first, before trading away any excess, and make policies to this goal. However, while the Moreillian economy can survive on itself, it was realized that it can not thrive by itself. Foreign stimulus was required if Moreillia is remain a significant power in galactic politics, and foreign trade and activities are to facilitate this.

From a merchant's point of view, it can be roughly summed up that the main exports of Moreillia are heavy machinery, foodstuffs, weaponry(although production and trade are practically government-run) and creative works; and that the major imports are: ores, metals, minerals, exotic items, personal devices and creative works from other cultures.

The military forces of Moreillia:

"Security of Moreillia depends on three things: One, what is going on in the Haen Dynasty. Two, what is going on in the People's Republic of Sinh. Three, what is going on in anywhere else." -Igor Normanov, Dean of International Affairs, Dern National University.

From corporation-funded copyright-enforcing paramilitary groups to full-on invasions by the nearby Haen Dynasty; from armed animal liberation groups to pirate gangs; from secret brotherhoods to hostile governments from another reality. Despite being non-aggressive themselves, Moreillia has constantly found herself drawn into almost every conceivable war and conflict in the galaxy, and thus, her military forces are among some of the most advanced and dedicated in the galaxy.

While technically, Moreillia can declare war with another nation, the Constitution has ruled that any decision that would result in immediate war with another political entity must pass a national referendum with at least 80% votes in affirmative.

Each state has its own military force, and by constitution, they must also contribute troops and war materiel to the Self-Defense Force, which is under the command of the Moreillian Federal Government.

-Anada Royal Guard-

"About five years ago there was a rich, influential Sinh businessman who captured the Anadan Princess when she was attending a ceremony without her Royal Guard detachment. He later publicly proclaimed that he would dishonor her himself and release a video of the act to the public. Little did he know that was the best way to prove one's mentally deficiency or insanity, or perhaps both. He ended up being lingchied by the Princess and whatever left of him was ground to Bolognaise by a Royal Guard battleship.

Seriously, if you somehow manage to defeat the Princess' personal escort, you'll still have to face the lady herself. And to be frank, she is pretty darned sadistic to interlopers. So unless you are into this sort of thing and don't mind being turned into Lasagna, don't-f-ing-mess-with-her." -Bob Larson, Host of Wilsian Talk Show "Cafe Time".

The Royal Guard is a small, elite military force tasked with protecting and projecting the will of the Princess. The Princess is the Commander-in-Chief and by tradition, undergoes some of the harshest training in the galaxy, the result is that the apparently frail and helpless Princess can defeat scores of special-operations operatives in less than half a minute.

-Tabinkan Confederate Soldiery-

"Fear Stops Here." -Motto of the TCS.

The Tabinkans equipped their military force with the best their industries can offer, and so they are on par with the SDF in terms of armament, however, they lack the battle experience of their SDF counterparts.

-Lasbeak Volunteer Security Force-

"Why do we fight, you ask? We fight to protect the dear memories of family and home." -Unnamed VSF Private.

The peaceful Lasbeakans made no provisions to produce arms in their state, and so, they rely on obsolete or outdated (by Moreillian standards) second-hand Moreillian military hardware, however, the state found them adequate for their defense.

(To give you a sense of how old the VSF armaments are, picture soldiers and tanks from Modern Warfare and Valkyria Chronicles fighting alongside each other. That's basically what you can see whenever the GSDF does a joint operation with the VSF.)

The Moreillian Federal Self-Defense Force, which is the official military force of the nation, is divided into three arms:

-Aerospace Self-Defense Force-

"When there is war, we get busy. No matter where, no matter when, no matter why." -Group Captain Loyd Markson, MASDF.

The most prestigious of the three services, the Moreillians have a long history of being an air power. Unlike other space forces, which are either a separate service using naval principles or incorporated into the navy, the Moreillians consider space the extension of the air, and therefore, added space-fighting abilities to their air force to form a highly adaptable and mobile space military. Another interesting fact is that the ASDF considers all craft under its command aircraft, instead of space-faring ships, thus the naval classes used to describe them were often added by other sources, though they are also widely used within the ASDF itself.

(Ship colour: Light gray hull, white wings with orange borders or stripes if there are no wings)

-Maritime Self-Defense Force-

"The turrets of a battleship is a most delicate thing, much like the bosom of a fine lady, excessive size mean no good." -Cover Page, MMSDF Fleet Chart.

The Moreillian Maritime Self-Defense Force conducts combat operations not only in and on water, but also other liquid surfaces on other worlds as well, be it lava, liquid helium, or even sulfuric acid. They are also an interstellar fighting force, using naval intersection gates to jump from the waters of one world to that of another.

-Ground Self-Defense Force-

"Always call for support if available, if not, retreat and dig in until support arrives." -Rules of engagement, MGSDF.

Despite being widely perceived as incompetent fighters, the Moreillian Ground Forces are actually highly trained and well-equipped. Unfortunately, the strategies of defence of the realm dictated that the Ground Forces be used to defend worlds or recapturing lost ground with heavy air or naval support, thus making their efforts greatly overshadowed.

Aircraft (ships) in service in the Aerospace Self-Defense Force(No picture means model is incomplete):

Starflare FGR.27 Interceptor:

Image

Legendary fighter craft with variants in use by all Moreillian military organizations. The Starflares were among the finest fighters in the galaxy at the time of its introduction, and constant upgrading have maintained that advantage. It has superior atmospheric maneuverability compared to most other fighters, a trait shared by many other Moreillian craft.

Storm Eagle FGR.3 Assault Fighter:

Image

A two-seated heavy fighter capable of atmospheric or stellar attack. This is one of the most iconic fighters in the galaxy, often appearing on video game cover art.

Avenger GR.2 Attacker:

Image

This is one of the most violent crafts in the galaxy, carrying twin 80mm GAU-81 "Murderess" Gatling Cannons in addition to a generous amount of other munitions, it can tear anything in its path into unrecognizable bits. It's dogfighting ability is hampered by its heavy payload, but it has enough armour to survive direct hits from capital class weapons.

Lance B.1 Bomber:

Image

Unlike the bombers of other galactic powers, this is not a fighter-sized craft, instead, it is a gunboat-sized strategic bomber that can carry a huge load of ordinance. During the Copyright Crisis of 5314, a flight of 7 of these bombers managed to cripple an entire RIAW task force using nothing but full loads of iron-bombs.

Mammoth C.2 Strategic Transport:

Image

One of the largest aerospace transports in the galaxy, the Mammoth is a crucial transport asset that enables the SDF to deploy a division-sized ground unit to respond to any crisis at any single point in the galaxy within 24 hours. The Blue Snowflake Society also uses Mammoths donated by the Federal Republic to deliver aid to impoverished worlds or disaster zones, making them symbols of hope and peace on many worlds.

Swordfish Mk II Class Light Capital Multi-Role Craft (Frigate):

Image

Frigates in Moreillian doctrine serve as heavy patrol craft or low-intensity skirmishers, with little role in major wars or battles. Therefore they are usually lightly armed compared to similar ships of other galactic powers, yet they are far more flexible in terms of role. The Swordfish Class is the newest mass-produced frigate type designed around modular mission packages that enable a ship to change into many different roles with only a few hours of dock-time. Current available modules are (1) High-Definition Sensors Package, (2) Heavy Anti-Capital Missile Launchers, (3) Special Operations Insertion/Extraction, and (4) Point-Defense Missile Array.

Valiant Class Medium Capital Escort Craft (Destroyer):

Image

Destroyers are treated as more capable frigates and less capable cruisers in the ASDF's battleship-centric strategy. They serve as picket ships in a squadron or as hunter-killers when operating alone deep behind enemy space. The Valiant Class is designed by the same team that produced the Swordfish Class Frigate. The modular mission packages are cross-compatible with those used in the Swordfish Class ships.

Takov Class Medium Capital Multi-Role Craft (Cruiser):

Image

A cruiser designed to be easily mass-produced during the last Interstellar War. Sacrificing top-notch quality for easy manufacturing, the design was also exported to allied nations and put into great use. This class is one of the most-produced military ships in the galaxy, at 19,500 units built by Moreillia, the Planetary Alliance, and the Wilsian Independent States.

Mos Albinion Class Cruiser:

Image

Fast, multi-role medium capital ships imported from the Wilsian Independent States for evaluation.

Lagoon City Class Medium Capital Missile Craft (Missile Cruiser):

Image

A missile cruiser built around heavy shielding, light armour, high-output engines and fast-tracking sensors. This is one of the few purpose-built cruiser classes of Moreillia, as most other cruisers are re-manufactured or re-designed old-generation battleships.

Unyielding Mk VII Class Heavy Capital Fast Attack Craft (Battlecruiser):

Image

The battlecruisers in the ASDF, similar to the cruisers, are usually old battleships refit with faster engines and other modern hardware, while keeping armament and hull design mostly constant. Even the newest Unyielding class ships are almost 90 years old.

Tripitz Class Heavy Capital Assault Craft (Battleship):

Image

Battleships are the centerpieces of any Moreillian battlegroup. They lead smaller vessels into battle, through heavily-fortified lines, enemy fleets or anything else that require immediate neutralization. The Tripitz Class is considered outdated, and several ships were "handed down" to VSF squadrons, and in their service, they give many invaders and pirates a shock as these supposedly "obsolete" vessels prove themselves to be no inferior to the main-line battleships used by other galactic powers.

Himetsuru Class Heavy Capital Assault Craft (Battleship):

This is the most technologically advanced battleship in the ASDF fleet. While the Tabinka is larger and heavily armed, the Himetsuru Class is equipped with a faster engine, advanced beam weaponry and phase shielding. In battleship charges, the Tabinkas would form the spearhead with other fleet craft, while the Himetsurus would form themselves into flanking groups.

Tabinka Class Heavy Capital Breakthrough Craft (Battleship) series:

Mk III:

Image

The Tabinka Stellar Integration (TSI) Tabinka Mark III battleship was the largest ship class serving in the Morillian Aerospace Self-Defence Force (MASDF). The two previous marks were concept designs that never left the drawing board. Baseline version of the Tabinka Class Battleship. It boasts heavy protection and armament superseded by none save their sisters of later marks.

Mk IV:

Image

The Mark IV addressed the lack of engine power and atmospheric stability that limited the tactical usefulness of the Mark III.

Mk V:

Image

The Mark V is a drastic refit that increases the ship's firepower by almost threefold. Taking over the Mark III's title of the largest ship in the ASDF. Speed and handling have slightly decreased compared to the Mark IV, but all other aspects have been dramatically improved. All Tabinkas are currently being upgraded to this Mark.

TL-1717 Mobile Logistics and Support Platform / Wirbelsturm Auge Class Supercarrier

The main difficulty of operating a space fore in an expeditionary capacity is the distance a task force has to operate from established supply routes. Most other space forces in the galaxy has developed their own supply and logistic support craft to carry the massive amount of materiel and supply needed to maintain fleet operation outside national borders or in remote sectors. The ASDF has only recently commissioned a long-range fleet support vessel of their own, due to the lack of need for sustaining long-range, out of border operations.

The TL-1717 is a militarized variant of the TL-1700 series of superfreighters, the catamaran hull of the TL-1700 was stretched by almost a third to accommodate 4 full-sized airbase runways with ATC capacity of a large military airfield for coordinating and receiving cargo from heavy strategic transports. The underside of the craft has been modified to be a dry-dock, capable of servicing most capital craft in the ASDF. For repairing large craft, it is equipped with side-mounted wielder arms.

It has battleship-grade composite armour and armaments for defense against up to cruiser-sized hostile craft, meaning it can satisfactorily hold its own against most raiders of flankers. Its huge capacity for fuel, munition, pilots, spare aircraft and large airstrip has led to its use as a "carrier of last resort" when battleships are unavailable and small craft must be deployed as the main body of an attack. Its role as an improvised carrier has led to the conversion of several TL-1717s into dedicated carriers, now rechristened the Wirbelsturm Auge Class. Its size easily earns it the classification of Supercarrier from other states. Some analysts believe that these carriers have a superior force-projection ability than even the Tabinka Class Battleships.

I really like the first two pictures, mostly the first : the Frigate?......My problem with many new ships is often the look of them compared to the game ships: some are just horrible looking. I have recently been the proud downloader of several awesome ships : one is really huge......but it is a sweet looking addition for the game because it really does not look out of place, it is just huge.
and i STILL do not know where it should fit in with a Sov already in the game....but there is room...adding more sovs to the game is " nice " but taking the ones we have and expanding them for more roles of interaction i think is a better goal to go for first.

The first picture i like, I think it would be sweet if it works out to stand side by side with the Korolov Freighters : and that is another thing : everyone knows I love the freighters :) , and while many times the game does not like too much ship action, I would STILL like to see more ship types : a diversity : i mean we are talking about Billions of lifeforms in a universe with a huge story that is so big the details are not completely in stone........

In my ideas, some of the " hostile " ships should be available to other sovereigns based on the idea of trade in the universe: even America sells the F-15.....Migs are for sale as well......you can get yourself a sweet Antonov 225 or a Galaxy if you got the cash ( and a place to land the beasts...).

what i would like to see is more ships, more designs enter into the game : the missile and command ship were made ' obsolete " but i like to see them in the systems regardless of what side they are playing because it adds diversity.

You have a problem that the bigger ships look smaller. Turrets become blurry indistinct blobs and the biggest ships are shaped like jet fighters -- and small ones like the F-104, not big ones like the F-14 at that -- while the smallest looks more like a barge.

Well, I understand the problem.... The Frigate and the destroyer were originally meant for another nation, The Wilsian Independent States, but eventually I felt the "Stealth-punk" style was better-suited for Moreillia.

Another thing was that I actually based the hull-form of The Tabinka on the Su-27 Flanker, but the tail section was somewhat reduced in size.

Perhaps I should set some design guidelines for my future reference here, so that I can produce something more consistent:

Moreillian capital ships should look more like aircraft than naval vessels (That's due to their emphasis in air power), yet their main armaments and configurations are similar to WWII-era naval ships of their respective class.

Moreillian small craft, such as fighters and bombers, should resemble real-life aircraft of a similar role (eg. the current Lance Mk.1 design looks like a hybrid of a Tu-160 Blackjack and a Tu-22M Backfire with the wings of a B-1 Lancer).

Well, if you wanna base your mode on real-life-aircrafts, so you should probably make based on 6th generation aircrafts F/A-XX -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Next_Gener ... _Dominance, or 5th: T-50(Su-50), J-20 Black eagle, F/A-22 Raptor...

And about sorvereign....Hum, make a new Trade station(Such as Korolov), a fortress(for the cruisers and destroyers- them you could put some missions such as the Commewealth).........

6th gen fighters aren't designed for atmospheric reentry. If you really want aerospace craft they should be based on cold war projects like DynaSoar, X-24, STS, and Buran. Either fixed delta wings or lifting bodies.

the best for atmospheric reentry would be the X-33 would be the best, the aerospace technology on that project is way advanced than the used today, take a look on the F-302 from the TV Show Stargate, the F-302 is a realistic craft, and the SpaceShipTwo from Virgem Galact as well(civilian)...

Thanks for the ideas, I think I will leave the current the FF and DD models to the WIS, and develop new ones to replace them in the ASDF.

The lifting-body would be prefect for small sized capital ships. I'll base the new FF model on the X-24B.

The X-33 is excellent for development not into a fighter, but perhaps a DD or a CL.

However, for the smaller fighters, I personally believe that in a game, or a mod made for one, aesthetics takes precedence over scientific correctness, as long as it is within a reasonable margin. The Variable Fighters in Macross for example are very definitely modeled after real-life, non-reentry capable fighter planes, yet they still look very believable.

The SpaceShip series look too organic for my taste.

Got bored and put a few spare parts together to make the battlecruiser. It's a flying battleship with pontoons, the excuse is that it is a nearly 100 year old design.

H.A.W.X. has one single redeeming quality over the Ace Combat series: It has a PC version. And I am a loyal PC party member. Meet me in multiplay and I will show you why the most overpowered plane in the game is the A-10A.
