WillyTheSquid and I have been working hard to get this mod together. As a teaser I decided to post the readme to get peoples responses.

NOTE: this mod works best with two additional add-ons: "Mined Asteroids Explode"
and "Named Ores". The person who wrote them, PM, has stated that he prefers to
retain full control of his mods. Therefore, they are not included in the Mining
Pack. However, their use is recommended.

overpowered and unbalancing.

HOW TO INSTALL/USE:

Unzip the contents of the zip folder to the "Extensions" subfolder of the game.
As this mod changes quite a few things around, you would probably be best off if
you started a new game from scratch (in Starton Eridani).

IMPORTANT NOTE: the mod contains XML files that override existing "vanilla"
things already in the game. Another file adds extensive changes to the Common-
wealth mining colony. That means these parts of the mod override vanilla
content and May conflict with other mods that effect the Commonwealth mining colonies.

INTRODUCTORY DESCRIPTION:
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The MiningPack contains extensive additions to Transcendence's mining sub-game.
It compiles some things from other mods, but most of those have been completely
re-done from the ground up. Here's the list of features:


JAMcorp RAW MATERIALS PROCESSOR (R.M.P.):
* JAMcorp's new all-in-one ship-portable processions solution. combines the
features of the mark 1, mark 2 AND mark 3 models of JAMcorp's popular ore smelters
(Smelter) and fuel makers (Refinery). It also duplicates the functionality of its ingot
based armor extruding Auton (Extruder).


(Smelter) The smelter processes raw ores into ingots, whic are 1/4th the weight of raw ore
and roughly 20% more valuable.

(Refinery) The refinery can process certain ores, ingots, and other materials into fuel.
Examples include uranium and helium regolith.

(Extruder) The Extruder can turn ingots into Refined Armor Segments, which are worth 20%
more than the ingots that are used to make them and more resilient than their normal
counterparts.

The basic R.M.P. can process materials of levels 1-3. Using upgrade ROMs, this
can be extended to levels 1-5 and then to levels 1-10.

The R.M.P. can be purchased and upgraded at the enhanced Commonwealth mining colonies.

NOTE: This feature replaces one older stand-alone mods. Remove these before
installing the Mining Pack. This mod are:
- TranscendentGeek's "Ore Smelters & Fuel Makers Pack 1.0"



JAMcorp TESSERACT CARGO PODS:
* These cargo holds can be added to a ship that already has a cargo hold
installed. They enable the pilot to carry far more cargo than before, but at a
hefty power cost. The more space you fill up, the more power it draws. There
are illegally-modified smugglers's variants out there, and a mining version
can be installed at Commonwealth mining colonies that automatically grabs ore
that is floating near the player's craft.

NOTE: This feature replaces an older stand-alone mod. May conflict with other mods
that add auto ore collection. Again, remove the old version before installing the
Mining Pack:
- TranscendentGeek's "Tesseract Cargo Pods 2.0"


JAMcorp DUAL-MODE ASTEROID SCANNER:
* This splendiferous new contraption comes with a basic passive-mode asteroid scanner
right out of the box, which will mark any nearby ore-bearing asteroids within 12 ls. It
can be upgraded at Commonwealth mining colonies to enable its active-scanning mode,
which automatically targets the nearest ore-bearing asteroid. The upgrade also activate
the advanced passive mode, which doubles the passive scan range. The active scanner will
allow you to target asteroids for mining using omnidirectional equipment. Once upgraded,
both passive and active scanning modes can be switched on and off separately.

NOTE: This feature replaces two older stand-alone mods, although
TranscendenceGeek ended up coding most of the dual-mode scanner from scratch.
May conflict with other asteroid scanners.
Again, remove the old versions before installing the Mining Pack;
- Omnivore, PM & alterecco's "Prospector" (passive mode)
&
- alterecco's "Asteroid Scanner" (active mode)


NEW ORE GRAPHICS:
* Added extensive reworks of SiaFu's "Stellifer Labs" graphical update to the
ore images used in menus. This will make it easier to distinguish between ore
types visually. The graphics were based on those created by SiaFu for his
unfinished "Stellifer Labs" mod. Some other resources, like hydrogen gas and
boson condensate, also received a facelift.

NOTE: This feature replaces an older stand-alone mod. Again, remove
it before installing the Mining Pack:
- WillyTheSquid's "New Ore Graphics (+Fuel Rods)"


NEW MISC. ITEM GRAPHICS:
* Many of the items in the game have been received new graphics. Separate images
for the ingot items created by the JAMcorp smelters are also included. The
graphics were based on those created by SiaFu for his unfinished "Stellifer
Labs" mod.

NOTE: "WTS_MiscItemGFX.xml" is an feature that adds overrides for:
- all fuel rods;
- all black market narcotics;
- all non-food (luxury) trade goods (neolinen suits, microsaurs, etc.);
- special items (longzhu spheres, slave coffins, medals etc.);
- the mining laser.


COMMONWEALTH MINING COLONY UPGRADE:
* Mining colonies now provide additional services. They buy, sell, (un)install
and even repair mining equipment of up to level V. They also offer to install and upgrade
the JAM Corp Asteroid Scanner, JAM Corp Raw Materials Processor, the JAM Corp Miner's
Cargo Pod, and the JAM Corp dual omni mining laser. Players can also sell commodities
and helium-3 fuel rods, at the same prices that agricultural and medical colonies offer.

NOTE: "TG_WTS_MiningColony_Override.xml" is an feature that overrides
the vanilla Commonwealth mining colony and its dockscreens. This does NOT
interfere with two major other mods that alter the mining colony dockscreens.
These mods are PM's "Playership Droves v4" and Atarlost & digdug's "Weapons
Extended" mods (specifically, WE4 and especially WE5, which is still under
development).


NEW RESOURCES & FUEL ROD TYPES:
* With the new JAMcorp Raw Materials Processor, parts of the resources that would
normally be lost during smelting or refining can be extracted during the proccess.
Byproducts like chronimium gas or prometheon refuse can be harvested, then sold for
credits/rin or processed into additional fuel types.
Every time the processor is used to smelt or refine ores, a semi-random amount
of secondary resources will be generated.
The new fuel types added are:
- Cobalt-thorium fuel rods (nuclear);
- Prometheon fuel rods & reactor assemblies (illegal);
- Antideuterium fuel rods;
- Boson condensate fuel cells;
- Quantum vacuum fuel cells;
- Hyperonic fuel cells;
- Necrodynium fuel cylinders (valuable to Ringers).


NEW MINING EQUIPMENT:
* New mining devices, some from Weapons Extended, that will make your mining
exprience that much more enjoyable.

ICX auto-miner:
- Automatically targets ore bearing asteroids. Works best with a Miner's cargo pod
installed. It comes in laser and plasma versions. then grabs it. Does not require
installing an asteroid scanner. It also does not require any other
mining weapons. Replaces Prophet's "auto-miner" mod;.

Mini mining laser:
- Does not require a device slot and can be (un)installed without the
aid of dock services.

Mining laser wall array:
- For those miners who like aiming at asteroids, but hate missing a
shot. It spreads a mining laser out over a far wider area.

Omni dual mining laser:
- This turret fires a dual, converging mining laser. When combined with
an upgraded JAMcorp dual-mode asteroid scanner, it gains the ability
to automatically target ore-bearing asteroids. Replaces
TranscendenceGeek's stand-alone mod of the same name.

Advanced mining ablator:
- Powerful. A dual, converging mining laser that will make short work
of even the most stubborn asteroid... or foolish space pirate. It is
not omnidirectional.

In addition, two different mule-type autons are available for purchase
at Commonwealth mining colonies.

NOTE: the UGW (Upgraded WingMen) versions of the packer are currently
unfinished. Do not use them if you use UGW.

380P ore packer auton:
- Transports up to 380 tons of raw ores (but not ingots) and up to 24
tons of other items. Can be told to go and pick up ore automatically.
It is otherwise Slow and defenseless. Replaces the "380P / 150 Packer
auton" stand-alone mod.

380Px+ packer auton:
- An upgraded ore packer auton with a more powerful and inertialess
drive, improved armor and shielding and equipped with an omni
particle weapon for self-defense.

JAMCORP RAW MATERIALS PROCESSOR BROCHURE:

This upgradable all-in-one materials processors is manufactured by the J.A.M. Corporation
(JAMcorp) and marketed towards freelance pilots such as miners, traders,
couriers, adventurers, and bounty hunters. The efficiency of such portable
processing units is a far cry from that possessed by the Commonwealth's
specialized industrial mining vessels or the massive orbital manufacturing
facilities operated by the Corporate Hierarchy. Still, most experienced starship
pilots gladly trade such efficiencies of scale for increased self-suffiency and
adaptability.

Between stockpiled ammunition, salvaged equipment, trade goods and mined ore,
self-employed pilots who stray off the beaten path inevitably find themselves
short on cargo space. Being able to process mined ore into lighter, yet more
valuable ingots frees up room for other endeavours, freeing the spaceship pilots
from constantly going back-and-forth to to a nearby marketplace to sell their
raw materials.

The Raw Materials Processor (R.M.P.) refines raw, mined ore into ingots. A ton
of raw ore (1000 kilograms) can be quickly and easily refined into far more
compact and convenient 250kg ingots. Press "U" to bring up the "use" menu, then
"S" to process all compatible, available ores in your ship's cargo hold into
their equivalent ingots.

Most JAMcorp customers are individualists that prefer small, multi-role personal
spacecraft over larger, specialized vessels. Their line of work often sees them
spend extended stretches of time far from the comforts of metropolitan space.
Affordable, compatible fuels may not be readily available to such professionals,
so having the ability to refine raw materials into reactor fuel on-the-go
constitutes a significant advantage to these enterprising pilots.

The miracle of miniaturization marches relentlessly onwards, allowing for ever-
more-complex mechanisms to be compressed into ever-more-compact spaces. As such,
each JAMcorp raw materials processor takes up only a single device slot.

Refining raw materials is a very fast but highly energy-intensive process.
Engaging the R.M.P. consumes the equivalent of 12 helium-3 fuel rods, which is
half of the total fuel tank capacity of a 25MW starship reactor. To protect
JAMcorp customers from unfortunate accidents, the R.M.P. can not be activated
unless sufficient fuel will remain to reach a refueling station.

None of these devices require being identified after purchase. You know exactly
what you are getting. JAMcorp thinks highly enough of its customers to not rip
them off.
