Has anyone made one yet? This is a nuclear warhead designed to concentrate most of its firepower in a narrow frontal cone when detonated instead of a 360 degree blast with normal nukes.

It was suggested that it would be a good upgrade for the CW fleet's NAMI heavy launcher in the CW vs Ares thread, designed as a long range anti-ship missile to counter the Phobos more effectively.

Yes. It's really not hard to implement, but missile fragmentation ranges are not customizable so you don't get the sort of point defense immune standoff weapons you're probably hoping for. They can have standoff range, but they won't use it.

The Phobos doesn't have PD.
What do you mean by standoff range? Is it to have a missile explode when they approach, say, 10 ls away from a target?

The idea is just to have a missile with a long range (IE comparable to a howitzer or so) with the SCN warhead on top so that you can snipe from a long range so that CW ships (and you) don't need to get in close to a phobos to maul it. If a proximity fuse won't work with the game then contact would be fine.

The primary benefit of standoff warheads like the Casaba and Excallibur in SF combat is that they don't have to hit the target directly. There are geometric reasons why weapons that require direct hits are vastly easier targets than standoff weapons.

All Transcendence weapons with fragmentation go off at the same proximity and it's far too short to benefit, either in terms of range or point defense resistance, from standoff detonations. Weapons detonating at the end of their lifetime can get something from long range fragments, but in the case of a seeking weapon like the XM900 they'd benefit more from additional range.

If you do want to mess around with casabas I suggest looking at the TM7 multitarget cannon.

Would it be possible to constrain the Warhammer's shock blast into a frontal arc?

No. That kind of effect is only available in full circles. Your best bet is either a particles type like the plasma torches or, if you're working with 1.3, the new thermo effect.

So no matter how much miles the missile will detonate if there are lots of anti-ship missile then it doesn't really count.
