Well, Hello everyone! The post from Rustman the Mad made me start this topic, and I would also like to thank the admin who confirmed my registration a few days ago.

So Hi everyone!

Well, I have a lot of questions about the forum.

1. Is there a well detailed tutorial for Transcendence scripting? Because it would be nice to do more with those XMLs than edit those ships and items...
2. I hate Anarchists. And the forum lists me of one of em'!  So, what are the ranks on the forum(Anarchist, Militia Captain, and so on...) and what are the requirements for these?
3. How many Megabytes is the installer for TrueSpace? (Crappy internet right now... want to know how much days i have to wait for it. Before i try, that is.)
4. Who can be considered a Friend on the forums(Friend/Foe list)?
To be continued...(I can't figure out other questions, when i do, i'll post em' here.)

hi Harbringer,
welcome to Transcendence Forums :D
1. Is there a well detailed tutorial for Transcendence scripting? Because it would be nice to do more with those XMLs than edit those ships and items...
Transcendence uses XML and a home-brewed dialect of LISP (that we call Trans-LISP as TLISP is already been taken :P )
If you can read LISP, than you can mostly read Trans-LISP. To understand the internal game functions, please see here:
http://wiki.neurohack.com/transcendence ... ions/index

unfortunately we don't have a real tutorial, but we are assembling the docs ourselves as a community.
Please check the wiki in general: http://wiki.neurohack.com/transcendence/wiki/
where George himself was so kind to start to write some of the docs.

The other best way to learn some scripting is to read mods made by other community members, we have a mod repository here:
http://xelerus.de/
2. I hate Anarchists. And the forum lists me of one of em'!  So, what are the ranks on the forum(Anarchist, Militia Captain, and so on...) and what are the requirements for these?
ranks are secret, sshh
and if you hate the Anarchists, then wait to see Dwarg or the Ventari later in game... :D
3. How many Megabytes is the installer for TrueSpace? (Crappy internet right now... want to know how much days i have to wait for it. Before i try, that is.)
Truespace 7.61 beta8 Standard (latests version i know) is 88.1 MB in a single file.
maybe install a download manager and download the file a bit at the time.

for any other information, please read the brand new welcome message here :D
http://www.neurohack.com/transcendence/ ... =15&t=3911

welcome again ! :D

I'm no newbie to the game. I've reached Heretic several times...(the Neurohack was HARD.)

I already knew that...

Yeah, Curucum(or what is his/her name) has been doing a LOT of work there.
Truespace 7.61 beta8 Standard (latests version i know) is 88.1 MB in a single file.
DAMN(sorry for the word  ).
1.04 is 16.6 megabytes. It took 5-6 hours for it to come down.(BUUUT it was worth it. Finally, i could play StelliFer labs and The Network... Shrike's mines and missiles are coming down right now)
The other best way to learn some scripting is to read mods made by other community members, we have a mod repository here:

I already have at least a hundred mods... :D
ranks are secret, sshh
Why? :?:

I'm not as green as you think...

Hey Harbringer Welcome to the forums. Glad to see you stopped by the IRC! Stick around there its always interesting.
Ranks on the forums can be somewhat described in the Welcome to the Community thread, and in general
Its
Developers, Admins, Global Moderators, and Community Staff - the later being anyone who is in charge of wiki, forum help, irc, or similar.

Who can be considered a friend is totally up to you. Your welcome to pick me. :D But it comes down to who you like the most.

hopefully that helps a bit. :)

First of all, go to your User Control Panel. The link should be right below the fancy logo at the top of the forums.

Once you are in the UCP, you will see this link ->
F-F 1.png
F-F 1.png (80.03 KiB) Viewed 12818 times
Click on it. Go on, trust me! ;)

The link will expand to two options -- add friend and add foe.
F-F 2.png
F-F 2.png (86.63 KiB) Viewed 12818 times
On the right side you can manually type in the name of the person you want to be a friend, or you can click the "Find a Member" option to select a person from the list.

Past that I'm not sure what happens -- I think the other person has to agree to be your friend, but I'm not sure. I hope that helps! :D

I think what it does is simply notify you how many friend-users are on at the moment. The foe list is I think for hiding posts. It may also block PMs from that user.

No bizarely PM's are not blocked. Yeah it's weird don't ask me why. >.>

It does however block or fuzz or something to foe messages.

:) HELLO.... just one question . How many star systems do I really have to go thru to reach the Galaxy Core again? Im getting dizzy flying to and fro in just 25 of em but am still confused. Im riding the Sapphire Yacht Class.R5 deflector,Akan 600 (50% enhancement), Mark III Howitzers MAGS Launcher. I got a mix of V300 armour and Carapace (and sometimes Orthosteel). I run out of fuel every time and got resurrected110 times since January! Im having difficulty with the Dwargs and the Ventari forts lying around. The Luminous are no prob though. Theyre easy to get away from.
.....cry without weeping......
.....talk without speaking......
.....scream without raising your voice......

Hi there erik. :D

Welcome to the Forums!

You can't get to the core at the moment -- Trascendence is scheduled to be in 3 parts, with the last part taking place in the Core.
The first part -- "Stars of the Pilgrim" -- is what we're all playing now. A recent thread discussed the roadmap of released in more detail.

For now if you are getting bored, check out some mods on Xelerus, the Transcendence Modding site. You should find a lot of stuff to spice your game up!

If you need help with anything else, try posting in the Beginner's Luck board.

I hope you have a good time here on the forum!
