Going to make a short racing game adventure thingy

Ok so I watched Redline and I've got racing on my mind, so I'm going to make a short racing thingy on friday that's basically a racing game in Transcendence.

Requests?

Keep in mind I have to do AI for the enemy racers too (maybe, I might scrap that and just turn the mod into a time attack thingy) but yeah going to do something new (yet again >.>).

Don't worry, I'll probably update Star Genesis next week or Dynamic Systems or make a one day mod thingy again ;)

Track layouts, ship selection, acceleration curves, environmental effects, powerups, there are so many cool things to consider in a racing mod. EMPs, Momentum guns, Pteravores, minefields are just scratching the surface.

In fact, this could be an excellent opportunity for a collab, one for all experience levels. I'm down for hanging out in IRC and Etherpad on Friday, thoughts RPC?

totally doable with spaceEnviromentType :D

also, speed pads :D (using a station probably, as spaceEnviroment as a minimum limit for size that is quite large, last time I checked, might be changed with the new nebulae)

timed gates sounds fun :D

A good straight away for precise straight flying. We all know how hard it is to shoot for a station across the system and be on target. Usually lots of course corrections or minor tweaks if you're trying to hit it dead on.

Ok, prelim outline I did today:
-Name?

Mechanics:
choose race in game through dockscreen
create overlay ship mechanic/shop system

techniques pioneered:
Overlay System
more dockscreen funcs
GUI techniques
--add a speedometer in lower left corner
-AI SYSTEM
--make predictions/choose the proper path
--should we make the AI vector motion based or...?
AI "lose" on death or if they don't get first place
use randomization to make AI preferences
-damage you take is determined by velocity when you hit the track
sable items

PLAN FOR TOMORROW
make star system
make 1 playership
make track
make track generator algorithm
make speedometer
make overlay system
make AI

I'll probably end up stopping at track generator algorithm so I'll need help with the menial stuff so we get to the fun coding stuff >:D

Hmmmm... I want in on this. I've made a time-trial-style player-vs-all-AIs mod for Carmageddon 2 that removed all time bonuses for wasting opponents and all heavy, slow vehicles -- only sports cars and racing trucks with about ~80 new ones added -- turning the game into a hectic racer where everyone was out to get you instead of a leisurely vehicular stroll through murderville. And after that I was considering doing something with a futuristic racing board game, Xtreme-G2 inspired -- but then I found Transcendence.

I recently tried out Transcendence on Linux (no more Windows here) and even got my ancient Paint Shop Pro 7 working like a dream through Wine... so I can get started on some appropriate graphics (racing-related space stations, misc items, in-track objects, powerups, upgrades/items, weapons/obstacles/track flavoring) whenever you want.

I can't work on this too much so I decided to just put here what I have.

To create track, se the nitro
