When you kill the knorassus you become a legend and get volkov. But what happens when you move to another system and become a legend by escorting ALOT of freighters?

If you kill the kronosaurus you can't get any more escort missions. I have had it happen that I killed the last required frigate while I was escorting the last required freighter, but all that happens is you get rewarded for the freighter, and then the kronosaurus comes after you, but you only get the first reward.

Hey I think I found an easier way to make the Kronosaurus come out. I've done this 3 times already so I think it is that effective.
After doing escort jobs for the first Korolov shipyard they tell you to go to the next system right?
Escorting on the second Korolov Shipyard I often see enemies on stakeout often between asteroids or palanetoids, so after I find them, I attack mostly the pirate ships (perhaps brothers of the Kronosaurus) and then I come back to the Korolov to hear them tell me I'm dead meat. Of course I always win . Hehehe.

That's the only way to get the Kronosaurus. There are 2 ways to get the Legendary rating (as far as I know) The first is to kill the Kronosaurus, the other it to escort 16 freighters without losing any. I mean that if you kill the last of the 3 pirate ships needed to bring out the kronosaurus while escorting the 16th freighter, then you are a legend and you can still kill the kronosaurus.
Also, is it just me or do the pirate frigates really need a boost?

non-kronos could use a slight boost in durability- perhaps a shield, or, if they have one, a better shield. Honestly, unless a ship has meteorsteel every ship should have some form of shields, imo.

How 'bout a patcher arm, in lieu of adding a shield? It would make them harder to wear down with hit-n-run tactics and make a real nice early game drop, if you get lucky!

I think they just need to be generally more durable, with better armor, shield and I really like the patch arm idea.

I think default frigates could use shielding, and the Kronosauros should have 4X lancer cannons and lucifer missiles, Class V deflector, And Heavy Ceralloy x16.

That would make it much better than it is now. I think it would work well as a mod.

Umm, that set of equipment would make the Kronosaurus stronger than almost everything pre-arean. The problem with upgrading the frigates is that Korolovs, and by extension pirate frigates, will spawn in level 1 systems. The frigates can and will spawn on your very first escort missions, and sometimes they will park themselves directly in the path of your charge.
Players flying stock vessels- or even slightly upgraded vessels- need to have at least a slight chance of defeating them, and it's already hard enough destroying multi-segment vessels without shields.

i've never had a frigate spawn on the -first- mission before. o.o Nor have I had a Korolov give enough missions for me to get up in rank enough for them to be supposed to start appearing.

But, it only takes three round trip missions to get from apprentice to journeyman, and that's when the frigates are able to spawn. So it is always possible for your first Korolov station to spawn frigates, which itself can spawn in the level 1 system immediately after Eridani.

Would you people please learn to read the XML correctly? There's a 50% chance for a frigate to appear for cargo values between 50,000 and 100,000. It's guaranteed at 100,000 or above. You CAN get a frigate in your first mission. As such, you can get the Kronosaurus after three missions in the system after Eridani. It does take a little luck of course, but its not entirely unreasonable.
