Hi, and a few questions

Ask any question about playing and surviving in the Transcendence universe. Newbies welcome!

Hi im tannus I recently joined the forums an am playing 1.01 atm. I played a few years ago?-0.98,0.99 versions and kinda finished the games I think (got to heretic). I have kinda forgotten a bit so im kinda newbie kinda not if you know what I mean. I also tend to skip stargates and then come back( I can tell I do this quite excessively straight from AK15 Partisan to katana star).
Don't know too much about Domina powers and Teraton farbricating so dont spoil me on that atm.
I haven't used mods yet and amnot skilled with coding [at all apart from a bit of html bbcode lol] . I am fairly skilled at photoshop though. I introduced myself here because the link that Ttech gave in welcome didn't work because it said topic didn't exist.
Anyway I wanted to ask some questions. Some may spoil some may not but try and just give hints and not give all away if you can.

1. Which system do gaians start spawning?
2. Which things do i have to get to add +fast to ion (if there is)?
3. Which things do i have to get to enhance shields VI +?
4. Huari- sdo i have to start a mission or do I just destroy all sung to ally with em?
5. Right now I'm using mag and used to use nami (just before Juno past st Kats) Which launcher should I use next (I like it to home in on enemies so i prefer missile over mag balls lol)
6. I always use Sapphire any reasons not to use it?
7. What are agricultural stations lol? ice farms?
8. Is it worth getting patcher arm?
9. Black market and CW forts never give me missions. Is there a certain level you reach before they stop. (I bough heaps of illegal from BM to sell to club)
10. Dvalin....Do I just give him rare weapons? can they be damaged? Is it worth doing this?

11. Bit of a strange on but-- When I first played I remember Kate Morgental getting stuck on arena barrier (0.98,0.99 not sure) I tried to missile here out a few times(a few hundred times). and blew the ship up. What would happen then??

Welcome to the forums!

In order:

1. Not sure of the exact system, but quite late in the game....when you see Ares around, you're getting towards that part of the game.
2. A weapon optimiser ROM works on any weapon to add the +FAST attribute, so that's what you're after. (It doesn't stack, incidentally). To add damage-buffs, you want an ion power capacitor or a longzhu sphere. (Because packing your sensitive weaponry with antimatter always improves it)
3. Just keep on moving through the systems, and you'll find/be able to buy higher levelled shields/armor/weapons/whatever.
4. The Hauri become friendly if you destroy 6 or more Sung Fortresses or Citadels. Oh, and don't shoot any hauri if you want to go through the hauri missions.
5. The NAMI launcher is a solid weapon for most of the game (especially once you reach the area after St. Katherines Star, when you start getting KM550s and XM900s to launch), if you manage the ammo effectively. Other options are the Makayev launcher (firing "strelka" rockets...non-homing, but enormous rate of fire) and the Rassiemesser launcher [later in the game], Firing Gotha-10 and Gotha-400 missiles, which can be a pain to aim, but are exceedingly fast. Personally, I'd go with the NAMI and hoard KM500s, 550s and XM900s.
6. The sapphire is a hard ship to use due to the armor cap. The extra device slot doesn't really make up for it without clever setups. But it's a decent ship. I'd advise at least trying the other two ships to see if they're any good for your playing style.
7. Agricultural stations do agriculture! They buy various goods (I cannot quite remember which), and produce food items. ice farms are similar, and will pay a decent price for Helium Fuel Rods....and sell some rather nice stuff. By working out trade-routes, you can turn a rather excellent profit with virtually no risk.
8.Not usually, but they can be useful. patch spiders have the advantage over them (you can have a whole bunch with no device slots used, and while they can be damaged if they're on your hull and you are hit by weapon fire, they can really save money, time, and deaths.).
9. You're on the right approach for the Black market, buying stuff means they'll eventually give missions. I'm told. I've never actually done that myself. The Commonwealth Militia require a certain level of experience before they'll give you missions. But once you've done missions, you get a military ID....and the chance to rank up and unlock caches of things like the XM900 missile.
10. Weapons, armors and shields, yes, and no, in that order. Dvalin is currently too hard for the rewards he gives (or the rewards aren't good enough), and isn't worth the effort currently.
11. Morgental is a 1.0 onwards thing, IIRC. Killing her doesn't do you any good, and is generally a Bad Idea. Not the worst idea, but by no means a smart one. The arena barrier thing MAY be fixed, I'm not sure (I'm on the 1.06a Beta version, and haven't played 1.01 for a long time).

11. the arena morgental thing may have been a bug (<1.0)
because late in game you do a mission with her ??(> 1.0? i read a spoiler i think)

BM thing I bought loads of stuff made heaps of profit (which is why i got katana so quick) i know twhere to sell things but i sold all my nami missiles and xm900 and such at BM and gained heapsa monies.
CW Fortress I did all missions at one, the next system with CWFort there were no missions? I already had the military ID the honor ribbon(?) and ares ribbon. Maybe because I already had it they gave me no more.

6. Whats an armor cap?

1. Last games I played (<1.0) I got past Juno and saved it. Can you tell me if theres seomthing new about it? Can I pass to next system and the attack from ares can come later?
2. Cuz I sold all nami missile gear are there any other higher levels that home? or is it only KM550? Do I actually need a launcher lol??
3. Huari slaves are there any rewards when you give them back to Huari (once allied)? or shuld i just give em to Domina. Also if I misfired at a Hurin but not killed can we still be allied?

6. The Sapphire can only have a max of 6 ton armor segments IIRC, so it can't use the good stuff like Worldship plate (no shields, but great resistances).
1. I haven't played before 1.01, but maybe if you gate out, you may be able to do the mission later... although I am not sure about that part.
2. I don't use launchers in late game, sorry. (mainly because I don't know what missile goes to what launcher..... Shrike helped out a bit on that part.)
3. You can donate the Slaves, but the Huari fortress dockscreen will not change from the "Where's our enslaved relatives? " dockscreen. As long as any Hurin does not die by your hand, it's all good.

Thanks for the help guys I guess I will see whats has changed in the new versions ^^ hehe I just got 1.06a aswell to try out later.

I have found when you get to the part of the station giving you a random mission: you find stations without a proper hostile target and it gets frustrating.....
but it is all a matter of the station having a proper target or not: has nothing to do with you so long as you are qualified for the job.

I concur with Shrike on patcher arms, but would like to share my favorite "Not usually" case: If you can pickup a full set of heavy meteorsteel armor early on, dump your shield generator (which won't work with meteorsteel) and install a patcher arm instead (patch spiders are too vulnerable in a no-shields setup).

150 Hit Points, immune to laser & kinetic, strong resistance (+235%) to blast & particle and radiation-proof to boot, this is a super early-game setup. Combined with an adequate weapon (turbolaser cannon & collimator or better), it makes you practically unbeatable in the arena and with reasonable care it's good enough to handle everything you're likely to encounter well past St. Kat's. In addition because the arm draws only 1MW, compared to 20MW or more for a decent shield generator, it saves you a small fortune in fuel, particularly on escort missions. This low power use also allows you to mount a much larger weapon with the same reactor, compared to an equally-capable conventional armor & shield setup.

Part 1
3. Ways to enhance high level shields include the following: Domina power Ingenuity, longzhu spheres, shield crystals, and some CPU cubes.

6. EI500 is good if you spend much time hauling a heavy enough load to slow the other playerships down. Wolfen is easier to use than the Sapphire early in the game. However, the Sapphire can outperform the Wolfen later in the game with optimum equipment.

8. Patcher arm is definitely worth it if patch spiders are unavailable or anytime you use a shieldless setup.

9. In case of the Black Market, you can get missions at Smuggler rank. There is only one kind of mission, and you can do it over and over again until you grind enough experience for Enforcer rank. After that, no more missions from the Black Market. The benefits of a high rank within the Black Market are not worth the pain needed to earn ranks. All the Black Market is good for is selling military vendor trash to them for a profit and buying reactor upgrades.

10. Dvalin is a trap. For all of the loot you need to give to him for his gift items, you could have sold them to the Teratons instead for tens of thousands of rin and bought yourself real level IX or X equipment. Even the Ferian plasma cannon from a Ferian warrior wreck is superior to Dvalin's final gift, and Ferians usually appear before Dvalin.

11. "Killing" Kate changes a bit a dialogue in Heretic and nothing else. (You can infer she has insurance.) She is a plot critical Mary Sue, and despite any angry dialogue, she really laughs off your insolence. Bottom line, if you can trash her cruiser after she recuses Katami, DO IT! The loot can be rewarding.

Part 2
3. The ultimate reward for finishing the Huari storyline is all of the loot left behind the multitude of Sung ships you destroy, including some from a one-of-a-kind Dragon Slaver. Oh, and once the Huari bid you farewell, you can turn around and kill them too for their loot. Huari ships have excellent loot, and not as dangerous as Ventari.
