I've tried out EP, and I can't make any progress with the mission chains. The UAS gave me an ID and three escort missions, and I raced and investigated mining outposts a few times as well. Their larger stations haven't given me anything, to my knowledge. The NAU has only given me a mission where I escort a SIGINT vessel, though I've recieved it multiple times. They've also given me an ID. The ED's smaller stations have each given me a mission to stave off some First Hunter squadrons, and their military mission chain has given me two missions. The first has been scanning an explorer, and the second has told me to deter it(I ended up destroying it, which the game failed to acknowledge, as it did with my destruction of Failsafe, though the latter can be explained as it having multiple avatars). I've encountered multiple ED and UAS vessels farther out, as well as NAU secret bases and large ED facilities, but none of them have given me any missions.

Is my game broken? Is there something I missed?

With the APD (and I assume the ED) you have to do specific missions in specific areas of the game: going too far ahead will sequence-break the campaign. Best bet is to backtrack and visit everything of that faction and try for a mission. Eventually, you'll find the missing one. I had to do this for APD.

In addition, there's also some missing stuff, and blocked paths (progressing with one faction will block off others under most circumstances. APD and ED are definitely mutually exclusive.)

This stuff mostly happens because EP was built differently to SOTP (different development method) and is still getting fine-tuned post-release. We should probably try to make a community-written mission guide at some point though, since this seems to be a common problem.

If you've done any of the ones I've got, I'd appreciate a guess on what I missed. If there's any way to see the source code, I could probably check that as well.

If the source code is visable, I can start one.

The answer to the lack of missions in later UAS and Atlas stations is because their missions are incomplete. Right now they only go up to level 5 as George didn't finish the rest. He plans to sometime in the future though, see: https://ministry.kronosaur.com/record.hexm?id=658 and https://ministry.kronosaur.com/record.hexm?id=654

You can use TransData to decompile Eternity Port's tdb.
The way I know of is to open the cmd (run), change directory to the place where the tdb is found (collection, unless you move it), move TransData to the location of the tdb (collection), rename the tdb to Transcendence.tdb and use "TransData /decompile" in cmd line. In the new folder TranscendenceSource, you'll find all of the resources and xml files.
Be warned that if you use this method to decompile several different things, some xml files may overwrite each other as they are named the same in different libraries (e.g. Makayev from just Transcendence is the stuff on GitHub, Makayev from CC is stuff with Novaya armor and Mark VII Howitzer and overwrites the other.) Also all of the master xmls (xml that declare all of the UNID and modules) will be named Transcendence and will overwrite each other unless you rename them.

Here's the easy way to decompile extensions: http://forums.kronosaur.com/viewtopic.p ... dda#p59104 (Thanks, PKodon)

Personally, I just put the second .bat file and TransData.exe in the Collection folder and run the .bat.

Note that most of Eternity Port's data is in NearStarsVol01, and most of Corporate Command is in CorporateHierarchyVol01.

I see the problem with ED - the Nagato was killed, so the chain cut off. The game really ought to handle that more elegantly. Mission sources should give different success text if the Nagato is destroyed, for certain.

With NAU, they don't seem to have any missions past the ones I did. The high tier structures are evidently without purpose. Ditto UAS and their dreadnoughts.

I've completed the second to last ED mission, but the last one eludes me. Some questions for anyone that can answer:

A) Must it be assigned by a Cruiser, or can other stations also provide it?

B) Can a cruiser that has already given me a mission give me another one? I've seen 3 APD Explorers, but only two ED Cruisers. Is there definitely going to be a third one somewhere?

C) Is there any reason, following the second to last mission, that the last could become unavailable?

Also, assuming there's nothing wrong with the code, what should I do next?

A) Only ED cruisers can provide the last mission as its attributes are:

Code: Select all

attributes=			"edCruiser, eurasianDiarchy, requiresID"
B) There should definitely be a 3rd cruiser somewhere

Code: Select all

numberAppearing=	"3"
maxAppearing=		"5"
C) I've never played through the ED chain but from a look at its mission there shouldn't be any since mission 9 doesn't involve the Nagato at all so it couldn't have been killed.

Do you still have a Taikon explorer auton? You should just go through all of the later near stars and outer realm systems and use it to find the last ED cruiser.

A good idea, but sadly I ended that game. There do appear to be problems with the mission system, however. In a recent G.O.D. assisted check, it's possible to take missions at late game Zamoks and become stuck when there aren't any more in the region to continue. I've also seen Cruisers destroyed, and its entirely possible that mine got Gaian'd, given how thoroughly I searched to no avail. I did see a dead cruiser in a previous game, sitting in the middle of nowhere.

Given their shielding I haven't thought that ED cruisers were in danger of being destroyed. I have only seen UAS dreadnoughts destroyed as they lack shielding and have no means to repair armor damage. It would help to give ED cruisers, APD explorers, and UAS dreadnoughts at least an armor repair patch if not the CSC's virtual damage control crew.
