Military ROMs will always map every enemy station in the system.
Well not always, because they should only do that if there is a military or commonwealth presence in the system. If they are not there the Military Rom will tell you that and map nothing.

There must have been charon bases in the system to which I was doing the escorting missions. Anyhow I did another circuit of the ungoverned territories with an explorer auton and still no dead wife. Volkov will happily journey with me to the Core it seems. Btw I was generally using both system and military rom. It seems to discover every single base in the ungoverned territories.

A) the advantage of Transcendence over many other games in the Universe is that it is never Exactly the same ( in the way it plays out ).

B) Helena is ALWAYS out there : what I often do is have him wait st the gate ( usually inside the gate ) while I search for her : if I don't find her, I bring him in.

IF I do find her : I destroy the ship with the heaviest things I can get hold of : MAGs,Howitzers, have a Rocket Party on deck 12 .....just to get rid of her.

Of course, this isn't a perfect method : I have lost the Old Man a few times because I missed the ship...and Don't try to get him away from it : Don't destroy her ship once he finds it - he will attack you.

C) Map ROMs are good : but knowing where everything is all the time can lead to you not going out there and having the adventure experience.

Sure, you played a ton of games : you won a few good ones ....but the Call of Domina is still in you because you have not found the things set out for you.....experiences that will prepare you for what comes next after that last gate.

There are a ton of Mods on http://xelerus.de/index.php?s=mods
Most will play in many versions, the ideas and experiences of these Mods are Priceless.

IF a MOD is found to not function : please let the community know.

But most should still work in the strangest of ways :)

Also, there are extensions like Corporate Command, Eternity Port....
I can't do without my Corporate Command....I love it.

I DO NOT recommend the Star Network to/for ANYBODY.

But the Universe is full of other stuff : go check it out.
Flying Irresponsibly In Eridani......

I don't like to kill pirates in cold blood ..I do it.. but I don't like it..

Do enemies in the game use the same armour and weaponry as they drop? I have noticed for instance that Luminous drone shields are very odd. They appear to only defend against a specific weapon type, otherwise let the weapon pass through the shield; but when you pick up their shield, this is not reflected.
the lumines, i like to think of those as being similar to the Borg from Star Trek. they technically sort of "adapt" to your weapons.
from what i gather, the luminous bases "assemble" the ships, they can pop out with either an ion shield, a thermal shield or a particle shield.

the shield is just as you suggested, it blocks that damage type and lets everything else through.

i usually rush in and kill as many as i can with ions and any that block the ions, i use the thermo howitzers on them.

the reason i compare them to Borg is because it almost seems as if the station keeps track of what weapon you are using and then puts the appropriate shield on the new ships it assembles, thereby "adapting" and to foil it, you have to switch weapons, like they do in star trek.

interesting to note though, they never make laser resistant shields, so if you manage to find an x-ray cannon and some damage boosters, you can use that to destroy all the luminous ships.

as for the shields
there is a chance to find an intact shield on a wreck and it does exactly the same thing for you. i installed the ion shield and it blocked all the ares ions, but the ares also use positron weapons and the shield will let the positrons weapons through, so yeah, the shields are super specialized and almost worthless except as a gimmick
