If the enemy doesn't have any sector capitals, it appears that some other world (jumpyards?) will be picked to be the new capital; I'm not sure how this can be predicted.
I have never seen that.
I think you're right. I'll fix it, thanks.

I'm still not sure if there is a distinction between attacking planets and attacking fleets, or any way to tell if you're "allowed" to attack somebody or not.
I've discovered that imperial might is percent ratio of selected empire's population relative to yours. That means if selected empire have 50% population of your empire, it's imperial might is 50. One empire can attack another without penalty if target's imperial might >50 OR the attacker had been attacked by that empire recently.
In my previous game in Beta, I had been attacked by Mondo. After I recovered my shipyards, I had conquered most of enemy's planets and it's imperial might was <50. There wasn't any penalty. That means if for example 60 imperial might empire is attacked and it fights back, it actually permits its full destruction.
About how that war ended. It's ally (Confederacy of the Worlds) started a new war with me. External reasons (preparation for exams) forced me to abdicate.
I just wonder why George didn't make such FAQ\Answers and questions thread long time ago. Basically he is the creator of the game.
You know, without this thread the game is pretty hard.
I tried getting back into the game yesterday. Built an empire of about 20 planets then experenced the same game killing problems that the alpha release had. Some bug caused a world to start trying to import 3 million trillium from my trillium planet, which of course sparked shortages and rebellion. I went ahead and just abdicated since my small empire didnt have the resources to put down a wide rebellion. I'll prob check back in 6 months to see if there is another version out.
I recorded some unit numbers over a 24 hours period. The attrition randomly ranged from 10-20% for fleets of 100 and defense stacks, except 5% for the Defiance starfrigates.
If you upgrade a planet via foundation starting from roughly the minute when a tech program build is finished the IC cost of the program will be run down to zero. It only works as the tech level is rising. If you only want T6-7 you might need to over-raise it temporarily to get the % fully down.
Using 1,000,000 Stingers I got an exact attrition rate of 0.00012 per watch. The rates for 1-10 days:
1: 0.15870285
2: 0.29221863
3: 0.4045453
4: 0.49904543
5: 0.5785483
6: 0.64543366
7: 0.70170414
8: 0.7490444
9: 0.78887177
10: 0.8223784
For starships it is probably 1/2:
0.082775176
0.15869838
0.22833711
0.29221147
0.3507985
0.40453643
0.4538259
0.49903554
0.540503
0.57853794
So, I don't know about gunships, but starfrigates can certainly accumulate to far higher numbers.

What is Iota Alshain Society for?
No, you need T & E to trade with Mesophon. I believe that Mesophon might have undergone some sort of secession event early in the beta that resulted in a couple of Mesophon-lites but I'm not totally sure. They seem to function the same as Mesophon, but I'm not in the game any more so I can't check.
NOT SCREAMING I LIKE ALL CAPS IT'S EASIER. ANY WAY I HAVE NOT SEEN THE NEW MATERIALS, RAMJET SHIPS OR THE TRADE UNION IN THE GAME FOR AWHILE. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO TAKING OVER THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE. I SOMETIMES THINK THEIR IS ANOTHER GAME AND/OR VERSION BEING PLAYED THAT I DON'T KNOW ABOUT. I AM PLAYING THE GAME NOW AND ALL I SEE IS TWO PLAYERS ...MYSELF TRI EMPIRE AND ORCHIDIAN EMPIRE. IS THEIR A NEW PORTAL SITE FOR THE GAME OR HAVE I LOST MY MIND AGAIN
