The concept of alpha- and beta-versions doesn't make sense with a public online game like Anacreon. Instead, I'd like to introduce the concept of "eras" of development.
An era is simply a contiguous period of development, during which one or more updates to the server are made. Eras are demarcated either by a common theme (e.g., a major feature) or a phase in development (e.g., this current sprint of development).
We were on track to call this period of work "beta 3". Let's instead call it "era 3". Individual releases during this time can be tacked on after a decimal point: era 3.1, 3.2, etc.
The current build running on the server is the 5th build in this sprint, so we're currently on era 3.5.
Goodbye Betas, hello Eras

(* Reading through the old posts, since I've been absent for a bit. *)
George, I like the idea - and I had been wondering what these new "Eras" meant.
Now it all makes sense
