Let's take a look to the most recent edition of the Saxophon Trader Bullettin: the most informed of all the galaxy!..

Many facts happened recently in the galaxy especially in Londor District, that after the attack of Bug to Glomp confirm its fame of important dangerous sector.

Imperator came back founding his Capital in Londor District.

Very soon after the foundation of the first cluster Imperator decided to banish Mesophons and Saxophons from Londor.

Mesophon as usual surrended against the forces of the enemy, otherwise Saxophons resisted to the attempt and reacted: a brief border war started between Saxophons and Imperator. Then the two empires signed a peace treaty, with the agreement of being neighbours in Londor District.

Then Imperator started the colonization of the west, may his presence bring civilization in that barbaric lands!

Some trouble between Mercutio and Imperator appear to be unavoidable in the process.. We will see

The rest of the Galaxy is in movement too: A large expansion by Auroran Hegemony promise new tensions between Auroran and Q.

Peppermint, Gospel and Goa'uld are stable (for now) in their politic of non-aggression.

It's all for now

A little update, or better, two little but important updates:

1) AS PREDICTED: Auroran Hegemony attacked Q. It's over for Q. Auroran is now really hegemonic
2) The west of the galaxy is a volcano of emotions! A brave expedition of Gospel Fleets arrived in the North West joining that magnificent area!

What a beautiful time for being an emperor in the West!

A struggle the Imperium intends to win.

As Terran Imperator Eternal I declare a state of total war with the Empire Mercutio. They are a rogue nation with no agenda other than sowing rampant destruction across the sector. The rule of law will be restored in the north under rightful Imperial dominion, as it has been so many times before. I invite all other northern powers who stand for the triumph of peace and stability over lawlessness and chaos to join the Grand Coalition against this menace.

Ad Victoriam!

I gladly delegate Gospel, Imperator and Bug King the job of explaining in a sort of special edition the details of what happened in the west, cause the Saxophon Traders don't possess all the details

GNC Foreign Dispatch recognizes a general armistice with the forces of the Bug King in the west. Fleets have been withdrawn following an incursion on the Gospel capital. (Translation: I'm new at war in this game and I suppose Bug was kind enough not to "bug" me further.)
The committee assigned to the economic program in Canton MB has been given the go-ahead instead to carry out their work in the mainland in the Northeast.

The Empire of Mercutio commanded by The King of the Bugzzzzzzz is here by issuing a General State of War against The Auroran Hegemony.

War will continue until either party voluntarily or involuntarily forfeits by abdication, words, or by a lack of Capitals to sustain their empire.

Failed attempts at communication with a hostile force known as The Auroran Hegemony was followed by successive warnings to abandon a colonization campaign within the Empire of Mercutio. The hostile fleet was subdued by the Meructian forces. A quick series of messages were exchanged where the A.H. issued a decree of subjugation. This will never suffice, as our neighbors stand testament to failure of such threats. A skirmish for jump access ensued with the loss of multiple SC's and the Bug home world of The Last Bug City. A heavy battle broke out over the skies of our home world as we vied for time. During those moments The Auroran Hegemony lost all access to the North West as far North and West as the central nebula and the middle of the Great Southern Nebula. Afterwards, The Last Bug City was reclaimed with little effort as the Auran Fleets departed being unable to inflict any more damage. This series of events has led to the deceleration of war issued by the The Bug King.

Taking something is half the war, the other half is keeping what you took.
Fire, Fire, Fire;
Streaks of golden light,
Rays of cosmic waves crashing through still dead night.

Gifts of diamond rays,
Strewn pearls of days not measured,
Treasured gleaming quests fade through the absolute oblivion of infinite time, no matter the direction.

And war died the day it noticed itself,
Peace, yet still dead, peace in the void of voids.

A brief overview of the events leading up to the conflict(s) in progress so far:
  • Imperial fleets bordering neutral space are attacked by Empire of Mercutio.
  • Imperium declares war in response, mounts largely unsuccessful attack which is countered due to improper placement of jumpbeacons.
  • Mercutio self-reveals as the Bug King. All-out war ensues due to long-standing feuds carried over from previous games...
  • Imperial forces regain captured territory, establish a strongly fortified sector capital next to Mercutio's capital.
  • Mercutio attempts to capture said fortified position, but fails due to lack of infantry units.
  • Said capital is redesignated to jumpbeacon via doctrine change, Imperial fleets proceed to raid Mercutio's empire.
  • GCN declares war on Mercutio as well (see above), for reasons unknown to Imperial intelligence, but presumably due to territorial disagreements. Ceasefire is declared shortly afterwards.
  • Imperium destroys Goa'uld Empire to secure additional ships and troops for the cause via defections.
  • Mercutio declares war on Auroran Hegemony, presumably attacking first (?) as Aurora (Wayward Device) would not risk social order penalties to attack a smaller empire. To be confirmed.
  • Imperium continues assault on Mercutio, seeking to press advantage while it lasts.
Overall I'm really enjoying the changes to jumpbeacons. Wars are much slower and are fought over the course of several days/weeks, as opposed to wiping out an empire in a single day (still possible, given that said player is small enough, as is the case with Goa'uld which only had 1 sector capital). Anacreon is transitioning into more of a "play during lunch breaks and after work"-type game, which I imagine was the original intention. If fleets were made even slower that would bring it more line with Neptune's Pride or similar casual browser-based games which involve multiple players in different time zones.

From the Auroran perspective, here is a breakdown of the mistakes made during the Rift War and subsequent invasion of marauding insectoids:

- Having completed its most recent cluster in the South East, 10% of TAH forces were dispatched to a distant outpost at the edge of the Great Rift, to continue the North-Western expansion of the Auroran Hegemony Galactic Hyperspace Network.

- Having established the AHGHN beacon, the fleet set forth to add the next AHGHN capital in the chain before returning to Aurora, only to encounter the unruly barbarians of the Empire of Mercutio. They made bold claims about owning independent worlds but had crude industry and a small fleet for their empire size. The Hegemony told them that strength was the only law in the Galaxy and the only right by which empires hold worlds. This was the first mistake.

- An AHGHN capital was established but the Mercutio barbarians followed the fleet with transports and infantry, trying to take capture the world first. While establishing the second AHGHN capital it seems that they succeed in the race to land troops, because despite an announcement that the world had been captured for the Hegemony, it flipped to Mercutio on the watch change and took the fleet with it. This was the second grave error.

- Now in possession of a modest fleet composed of .5 million Undines, 200,000 Warphants and assorted Imperial Guards and Armored Infantry, the emboldened barbarians seized more AHGHN worlds.

- A declaration of vassalage or the destruction of the Mercutio industrial core was issued and a punishment fleet of 3 million Undines, 1 milllion Warphants and 0.5 million Armored Infantry was dispatched. It was also then revealed that the Mercution barbarians where in fact Bugz. Ignoring this was the third major mistake.

- Thinking the AHGHN capital and beacon near the Bugz empire capital was safely hidden, the Punishment Fleet struck straight for the the target.

- The Bugz capital was taken and there were a few residual invasions before the fleet headed for home. It wasn't the crushing victory that could have been hoped for, but the Bugz capital had been soundly crushed and the surrounding industry thrown into disarray. Regrettably, the "Hidden" AHGHN capital and beacon in the depths of the rift was not so hidden after all and the Bugz captured it. This was written off as a sad but reasonable price to pay.

- The Hegemony, having taken a unsatisfactory but acceptable vengeance, made sure that it was sealed off from the North West by turning off a wide swath of beacons. It succeeded, and this is important, in cutting almost all of the beacons leading back to its clusters. This was the truly unforgivable mistake.

- Bugz streamed through a missed beacon and marauded around unprotected clusters.

And so it would appear that the Bug King has been crushed...

They have indeed...

It's with great surprise that I log in today and noticed their abdication. I assumed Aurora must have either captured all their capitals or destroyed their main fleet.

It seems that despite the Bug King's bold claim to fight to the death, they opted for a quick way out rather than prolong the demise of their empire.

We salute the Empire of Mercutio as a worthy adversary, in recognition of the times past in which they've managed to defeat the Imperium. Just not this time.

They managed to fight us to a stalemate over neutral space, with neither side being able to establish beacons or capitals... But made a fatal mistake in engaging the much more powerful Auroran Hegemony in a bid to secure additional ships and troops. Of course, official Imperial news sources report that their assistance was unnecessary and Imperial legions could have easily handled the threat without the need for outside intervention...

Welcome between us Lord (or Lady) of Alince!

we are a little comunity of internationals abituals Anacreon players.

Not more than 10 active players I think.

We are quite the same players since 6 or 7 years. We tried to make some recruitment initiative but with no results.

George doesn't promote us . The bugs are still the same of the first beta and are well known.

Everytime a new player arrives here I take it as a wave of fresh air.

We hope you will enjoy this galactic experience

I've very much been enjoying the last 40 days as the Auroran Hegemony, particularly the recent conflict. Funny how in this day and age of graphics cards with more processing power than every supercomputer in the 60's combined, a game who's most advanced effects are yellow lines and dots zapping between circling grey and red dots can give such compelling thrills.

Bug King, despite our in game political differences, I salute you. You arguably have the strongest knowledge of the Era 3 mechanics of warfare out of any of us and your determination is to be admired.

Now, I've got a couple of questions about what's up on the forum. A long, long time ago we had several active main threads running. There was the STARGAZER BULLETIN and later the The Autocracy of Order Propaganda-News Bulletin, where players posted mostly in character reports about galactic goings on. We also had various versions of a "Galactic UN" thread and of course the thread organising the now legendary Barricades Pact which served much the same purpose, in character galactic political stuff. And of course a general out of character discussion thread.

Right now we have this thread, which is pretty much everything from in character empire stuff to general discussion of Era 3, and an in character thread that only The Bug King (and once --Imperator--) uses. How would everyone feel about some old school "pretending to be our empires and throwing out news, propaganda and political threats" threads? Some of the most fun I've had in this game has been on the forum, like when Finnian recruited me to start the Barricade Pact and we gathered all the small empires together to stand against and later overthrow the great powers of the day. Or running the The Autocracy of Order Propaganda-News Bulletin, putting out regular galactic news intermixed with the message that all right thinking, civilized clear space dwelling trade cluster users should seriously consider exterminating any filthy, degenerate nebular dwelling mesh trade empires they came across.

Bug King, are you down for people using your Emperor's Journal thread for this? I know that in the first post you indicated that was your plan for the thread but it seems to have mostly turned into a log of the Bugz constant struggles to exterminate all life. If not, I'm happy to start an Auroran Hegemony Factual And True News thread.

Hi Ilkay, welcome to the Galactic community! Feel free to ask any questions and when you have a minute scroll about half way down the first forum page for Watch TV, Do Nothing's excellent Anacreon Era 3 Reference and FAQ thread. As sources of Anacreon information go, it's a fully supplied TL10 cave world foundation with all habitat structures.

Oh, and let it be known that the Auroran Hegemony, after a minor jump missile incident during the recent Bugz Extermination Expedition, is on friendly terms with the AoFK and has ceded all of the war worlds within range of the AoFK capital, naming them Auroran Gift Worlds.
